Im on the pill now and have been for 6 years now, I'm 29. Anyway, every month right before I start my period prob about 4 days or so before, my heart starts skipping beats. I will have them for a few days and then they go away until the next month. Anyone ever heard of this? Before I had got on the pill years ago my heart would skip beats ALLLL the time. Then after getting on the pill they only come once a month.

I think that's actually called "esophageal spasms" and is not always the heart. I have it but I've noticed my pulse is normal during the "skipped beat" times. Caused by hormonal fluctuations/imbalances.

Thanks for the reply. My heart is skipping FOR SURE! I have checked my pulse while having one and you can feel it pause before it starts beating again. Sometimes it adds an extra beat, I can feel that too while checking pulse. It's weird! I think it has something to do with hormones though. Or the hormones being unbalanced cause them more often. WHo knows

I ALWAYS get this before my period! I'll get skipped heartbeats or very rapid heartbeats (tachycardia) a week before my period. When this happens, I KNOW my period is coming because it never fails! I think it must be hormones, as I've been off the pill for years and it still happens. It's really nothing to worry about.
