I have LPR. The past week I had 4 pills (Prevacid) get stuck in my throat. So my anxiety kicks up and now I can't take the pill. My throat feels really tore up. I have not been able to eat solid food for about a week. I have been drinking about 6 Boost drinks a day. Is there anything I can do help myself be able to take the pill because its really killing me, especially not being able to eat at Christmas time.....

Thanks for your help!

hi twig, i am so sorry to hear about this hun i am going through the same exact thing, I have not eaten solid foods for 2 months so far because of the LPR, what i do when i take nexium is let teh capsule soften a little in my mouth and then swallow a whole glass of water at the same time i swallow the pill, it still goes down so slow.. this has been so horrible hun so i know what your going through I had no idea how bad panic attacks could be I have gotten so many... and my anxiety is so bad also from this, i have been suck since about oct 22nd, didnt eat at thanksgiving and now all christmas, it is extremely hard so I know what your going through but in my case i was misdiagnosed i was told i had severe asthma-bronchitis, they gave me such a bunch of meds... and now at least i know whats going on and i am on 2 nexium now, i hope this pill helps because i am also at my wits end

i was told by a girl to take a product called rezyme--and also a naturopath said that acid comes from having an acidic body he told me to eat alot of barley and get the ph tests onlien to check teh PH, he says once you eat barley it will fix all this acid mess, i will let you know how it goes, just remember your not alone, and just pray that god help you through this, i didnt know i could be without eating for so long, but god has helpedme through this horrible time, god knows at soem points i think i will lose my mind.

also when you try to eat put a tsp of apple cider vinegar in the water, that helps keep the acid down. lso are you on 4 acid pills a day?

I am on Prevacid 2x a day. Everything solid seems to get stuck right above my right collar bone in my neck. When I talk after it gets stuck, it gets worse. I went to my GI today and he prescribed me a disolving type of prevacid. Has anyone had any experience with these? My ENT told me it was LPR.....Plus my anxiety...I just don't know where to start, it is getting VERY frustrating.....I have an endoscopy in two weeks.....Thanks for any help

Hi TWIG. I had my esophagus dialated again aghh, doc said my esophagus was healing.. but then he also said he used a large instrument to dialate me, the largest he had i forgot what there called, and i was half asleep when he told me, anyway no wonder now i am back to sqaure one since my esophagus is damaged again from all the stretching 2x in about a month.

and it been 3 days and it hurts and still cant eat, i was given a dissolving kind of med also called nulev but I have not tried it yet, i am afraid of taking too much meds. what was the name of the one that your doc prescribed? anyway I am also desperate everyoen keeps telling me just eat! and they dont understand that i can barelly swallow, I am so sick of this mess, i am also anxious since i am wanting to eat solid foods so bad, but then again i would guess teh anxiety is a normal reaction to what were going through.

anyway are you able to eat?

I bought pepcid ac and zantac because theneium is helping but very slowwwwwwwwwly, not sure if i should take all 3 of these.

Hi twig are you feeling better, the doc gave me a drug called nulev and it dissolves under the tongue, it really helped me with my swallowing, it sort of relaxes your throat muscles, i didnt feel the lump i always feel. but anyway maybe you could consider asking your doc for it, it worked very well, but the dryness i felt in my mouth was unbearable, so i had to stop it.

I am finally able to eat. THANKFULLY!!!
The food is going down slowly but it goes down at least.
I am getting very nervous about my endoscopy. I have white coat phobia.
What can I expect during the procedure? My nerves get the best of me....
Thanks again,
TWIG

I did a google on this and it was explained really well--about the tiny tube with the camera, etc, what to expect, how it feels, etc, etc. I had a colonoscopy in May and it was a breeze. I'm 58, have MS, and, as my gastro says, so far, my guts 'n' butts are squeaky clean. I am suffering with esophageal spasms, and MS can cause it, but I'm going to get a scope in March, if I can get in to the doc then. It's a low-risk procedure--very drowsy. When are you going? And in the meantime, does anyone have any ideas on how to treat gastro spasms while waiting for the doc? Including alternative, herbal, etc. --T

twig,
the endoscopy actually goes by pretty fast. I was really scared. I brought my bible and read that while I was waiting. I even started crying before the procedure but I think we are all scared of the unknown. I have low blood pressure so they did not give me alot of sedation so I was awake for the whole thing which was just uncomfortable but it really goes by fast and from talking to others that have had it they don't even remember anything about it which is most likely what will happen with you. Then if they do a biopsy you will get the results in 5-7 days. They can tell you afterwards if they saw anything unusual. I hope this helps and good luck. Please let me know how it goes. I will say a prayer for you.
Andra
