Hi. My name is Staci and I am 16 years old. I have struggled with crohnic tiredness for the past 3 years now, ever since I was diagnosed with crohn's it's just each year I get a little more tired. I can't even work because after school I require like a 2 hr. nap and i am still in bed by 9 half the time. My iron just recently dropped from a 41 to a 21 within a month on two iron a day( this reading wasnt suring or after a period so i know its not from that) and a vitamin now Im on three iron and there is still no difference. I also have a lung condition. My question is am I anemic and is it normal for the iron to drop that low within a month on two iron for no explanation, the rest of my bloodwork is always fine its just the iron.???? My doctors has never really given me the explanation( My crohn's doctor doesnt think it should be making me this tired since its in remission and my lung's doctor even with a 68% lung function and nodules doesnt think thats the cause) so could someone please help??????

Tiredness can be caused by depression and depression can be triggered by iron treatments alone. Talk to your doctor about what you are feeling and ask him to have you evaluated for depression. I am talking about medical depression not sadness.

I read that chronic infection can drop iron. I'd investigate that angle. You might consider cooking your food in iron cookware to get an additional boost, sounds silly but it works for some.

Do you mean the cookware has rust on that? Or special kind of iron cookware? Where can I get it? Please let me know. I'm interesting in it so don't have to take tablet. Thanks
