Is it good to think and say something like.. "well im glad to have herpes then to have hiv/aids" or is haveing herpes just or almost as bad so its best to not think like that?

Personal opinions.....

Herpes is so very common...you can really say that about 80% of the population has herpes if you want to get right down to it because cold sores(herpes 1) can cause someone to have genital herpes if you have oral sex with someone that has herpes 1 and the virus is shedding. Even if you only count herpes 2 as genital herpes it still affects 25% of the population so it's very common. You can't compare herpes to hiv/aids! The only thing that's in common is the fact that they are incurable and they are sexually transmitted. Most people that have herpes don't even know they have it, most people with hiv or aids will die!

I think the public's persona of STD's in general, needs to change......Just an opinion.....

Yes I definately agree with you Shiny!!!! Amen!!!! We as an American society still acts like sex is something dirty yet we all do it. Almost noone ever waits till marriage to have sex anymore. Instead of us all acting like we are so prim and proper, we need to wise up and get educated! We need to stop being afraid to talk about stds or else herpes/stds is going to affect 99.9% of us! Let's all face it, sex is a part of our lives and it's nothing to be embarrassed about!

you all bring very good points too me. Right now im trying to fig out if I have it or not.. I havent gotten tested yet.. so far im looking up symptoms, how its moves etc... but I can say all i have noticed of symtoms are tingling, itchy and red spots (but look like pimples and small, very small) no aches, no fevor, no puss/weaping, no scabs or healing from anything so im in a stalemate right now... But I asked that random question because of my past.. I thought I had aids due to some1 telling me i slept with an hiv person who has full blown aids now and went to get checked and came back negative (i slept with her back in 00/01 so i would of def had it by now if i did) so now being i know im free from aids, if i did hav herpes i just thought about it like "well if i do then ill be happy to have that then aids" but wasnt sure if thinking like that was good at all.
