After a whole year with no "proper" period (just a little light spotting now and then), last month I had what I can only describe as a proper period. It lasted 8 days, the first three being heavy.
During the year, I had to put up with the usual hot flushes, night sweats, depression, lack of concentration, my get up and go, got up and left, etc. Then a couple of weeks without any hot flushes and I'm thinking, this is great, and I get a period.
Is this normal?
Also, in September I was taken into hospital where they diagnosed an ovarian cyst and an appointment was made to see a gynaecologist 11 days later. When I had the echographie (ultrasound), there was nothing there.
What is going on.

Hi Francie2,
Well, I went 15 months without a period and then it suddenly showed up (this Sept.)! Mine was pretty normal - wasn't really heavy and lasted about 3 days for me - which is normal for me. It is apparently very common for a period to show up even after a year. It did surprise me but I didn't worry or panic about it...I just let it be.
