View Full Version : premature ventricular contractions

Hi Everyone. I'm new, I hope I'm doing this right. After almost a year of heart palpitations that have become so frequent they sometimes last for days straight without much relief, I finally insisted to my Dr. that she refer me to a heart specialist. I knew I had anxiety, but these are BAD!! I was told I have premature ventricular contractions, and they aren't harmful, just unbearable to live with! The heart DR. put me on Atenelol, a beta blocker. It isn't doing much, just slowing down my heart beat. The palpitations are still there. I wondered if an anti-anxiety med. might work better? I was on Librium, but had to take more and more of it. I finally weened myself off. I didn't want to be on too many meds at once, even though the DR. said there was no interaction between the two meds. I've been on the Beta Blocker for about 11 days now. It seemed to work for a few days, then symptoms returned. Does any one else experience this misery???!!!

I suffered from irregular heartbeats off and on for the past 8 years, it was a bit of trial and error before my Doctor found a drug that worked, so you may have to ask your Doctor to let you try another Heart drug.
I know your misery, but it could be worse, my irregular Heartbeat is now full blown Atrial Fibrillation!
I hope your Doctor sorts out your problem for you.
Cheers. :)

well, everyone know me, i have PVC's everyday all day, around 10-15k a day, thats right 15,000 iv had them for 3 years and plannin to have surgery for it. but i was told that they are not harmful. im on a good beta blocker and will be on a anti-anxioty to calm me down, im calm but sometimes i get nervous, but thats not the point. the point is, a lot of people have em, some more than others, and still live with it day by day, for me i live with it and forget i even have em sometimes ^^ (btw no underlining)

Thanks for the feedback on the PVC's! Until two weeks ago, I had NO IDEA what they were! I'm sorry to know that other people are suffering with this. I would not wish this on my worst enemy! I hope that everyone is able to find something that makes the PVC's go away, or at least makes them go dormant. I wish I knew a little more about them, but all of the text I find says the same thing. No one talks about the anxiety issue maybe being the culprit in the first place. Good luck everyone, and thanks again for responding! :)
