No it doesn't cause cancer. It is healthier than the sugar it's replacing. Personally I prefer aspartame and cyclamate because both taste better and have been around longer, but if you like the taste of Splenda, go for it.

BTW, they've just begin putting Splenda in PepsiOne instead of aspartame.

Lenin, I heard on CNN that aspartame can cause cancer. As a matter of fact, the doctor on CNN said sweet n low was the best fake sugar to use. But then a month later on the Today show a doctor told Katie that Splenda was the best fake sugar. I use splenda, but my mom uses aspartame. She says it's cheaper and tastes better.

I don't think doctors really know or just won't say.

Well, if aspartame can cause cancer, I would like to know how they made that determination. Do you remember years ago when many people began to panic when they said that saccharin caused cancer? And do you remember how they arrived at that conclusion? They fed rats the equivalent of 1000 cans of diet soda per day. Now, nobody is going to consume anywhere near that amount of saccharin in a day. I suspect the same may be true of aspartame...that is, if you drink the equivalent of 1000 cans of diet soda.

There has been no Evidence YET that any artificial sweetner will or has caused cancer.

But that doesnt mean that it is not possible. there has been some "evidence" that artificial sweetners have caused headaches and some other "Side Effects" but there has yet to be any significant link to cancer.

You are probably more likely to Develop Cancer from the Cleaning products and Personal Hygene products in your home.....Every day you are being flooded with chemicals from these products....and some of these chemicals have been linked to cancer! Plus you are beeing subjected to Thousands of chemicals that have never even been tested for safety.

I use splenda all the time. I even used it when I was preganant. My doctor told me that was fine and that splenda is the safest artificial sweetener so far.

I use aspartame or cyclamate (if I order from abroad.) Splenda is edible but I don't care for the aftertaste. Saccharine (Sweet and Low) to me tastes worse than I would imagine sweetning my coffee with chlorine bleach or a bar of soap...yeccchh! Last time I inadvertantly got some in creamed HERRING (of all things)...I felt poisoned all day long and screamed loudly at everyone involved, including the manufacturer.

I am sure that aspartame is perfectly safe because over the last several decades it has been consumed in TRILLIONS of doses and ALL major health organizations have signed off on it.
