Hi

Ok, I drank for 3 days in a row (between 6-10 beers a day). Got up this morning and felt wobbly and unsteady on my feet (could barely even think straight or get a coherent sentence out). I hav'nt consumed a drop of alcohol all day today but drank a LOT of coffee throughout the day and my anxiety has been THROUGH THE ROOF!! - plus my left arm was experiencing muscle twitching/rippling. I popped a few Xanax and all seems "ok" for now but I was wondering if all this anxiety was caused by a combination of alcohol withdrawl and all the coffee I drank today. I've had GAD and panic attacks for years but would these factors exxasorbate my condition?.

- Thank's, LT

Hi :) Yes that sounds like a big possibility. When I developed Panic Disorder I had been going OFF of Alcohol, but had a cup of coffee that day and begun getting chills up my legs and palpitations of the heart, just even had a heart palpitation that put a little shock in my body, so I think so. Lay off the COFFEE and cut back on the alc. Good luck. :bouncing:

Alcohol or Coffee = anxiety city for most people it seems... i had to cut both out of my diet and i did feel better... i am not totally over the anxiety but it took some of the edge off... the xanax takes care of the left over..

i agree with the others here alcohol and coffee both can make anxiety feel worse.I have a few drinks about once a week and sometimes the next day I feel pretty bad like I am just messed up in the head lol and ill.Why I drink still well...it relaxes me for the time being and I usualy dont over drink, when I do I feel absolutely horrid the next morning.

The way I see it if you suffer from certain conditions, there are things in life you just cannot do. So here is my advice, if drinking beer and coffee are triggers for your anxiety DON'T DO IT. Sorry if this seems harsh .

This is why I gave up alcohol. I used to drink more regularly yet I found myself a mess the day after + I had night terrors when I drank more heavly. Once I put two and two together I had four...no really an answer. I now do night get these night terrors anymore and controling my anxiety is easier. Giving up alcohol was tough because it was integrated into my life. I didn't have a problem with drinking..but I'm 29 and going out was a normal thing. A friend of mine who had gave up drinking for different reasons said to me "if you don't have a problem with drinking then you won't have a problem without it" Haven't drank since. With this in mind I also found that the less I drank the better I felt the next morning. So you could get away with 1 beer or 1 glass of wine and not have these problems....but add two or three more and yes your be back to a miserable next day.
