Hey! I"m so glad you're going to try the patch!

I sure hope you get some needed relief from it!

I can't answer your question though...my doc doesn't seem to think I need it.

Hey Amster! I have been thinking about you, I remember you tried to quit your meds in understandable frusteration at being undermedicated and were worried about getting back on a regimin. I am so happy you got on the patch! I hope this means you are finally going to see some real relief. Good luck and God bless, Fabby

Thanks, though I think I'm far from being out of the woods yet. I ended up going to a few different pharmacies to find the Sandoz, most had the Mylan.

I had to battle with the docs to get this script as they said that my history so far with the meds is not in accordance to how they prefer to treat their patients. They said that their goal is to get people well through injections and PT and wean off the meds. I told them I am all for getting well and hope it happens and will try anything. I'm set up for an injection #1 tomorrow. Since I have a positive EMG that is a good reason to give it a shot. I had the MRI, which they said didn't look too bad but they didn't have the MRI report yet either.

The majority of the pain is in the leg with some pain shooting down the leg. I hope that the injection helps and maybe I'll be able to get on with things. I really fear getting weaned off the meds if it comes to that. I will just have to wait and see what happens but being on the meds for so long and then getting off for those few weeks was miserable. I had no energy whatsoever and could really care less what had to be done because I didn't want to get up and around. I don't want to ever go through that again.

We'll see how this goes and maybe I'll actually get some relief vs. feeling strung out as with the oxy.

I have always used the Sandoz patch which I understand is mfg by the same company that mfg the Duragesic patches. So, without having anything to compare it to, I really can't say how good the Sandoz patches are.

The Mylan patches seem to be getting mostly negative comments except for the adhesive.

I used Duragesic for four years. Last Feb pharmacy switched me to Mylin to save me money for copay. Ended up at my pain doctor in July of 05 as they felt I had developed a tolerance to.t the patch. To make a long story short, I didn't develope a tolerance, my body was starving for the medication of the patch which wasn't being released properly in the time frame I was used to. Went to the Sandoz patch and I was back to normal. Only problem is I have to buy a Bioclusive covering made by J & J to keep patch on and it is very expensive. It used to be supplied to me at n/c when I was on the Duragesic patch. Hope this helps you,

I started out with the patch in July and could only find the Mylan. I went with it since I had nothing to compare it with. I needed to boost the amount the first month since it wasn't really doing anything for the pain. So we got it up to 150 mcg. and it still wasn't really doing much. My doc upped it again to 200 mcg. but I happened to end up with the Sandoz before I could fill the 200 and couldn't believe the difference. I sent back the 200 script and stayed at the 150 mcg. as long as I can get the Sandoz. For me, it made a huge difference. For me, I have not had any problems with sticking either. I was afraid of that problem since so many seemed to experience that. The mylan stayed on fine, occassionally falling off (in the summertime and swimming and all). I've yet to have the sandoz come off so, maybe I just got lucky.

So..call around and see what you can find. When I was looking for the Sandoz, couldn't find it. Now, my grocery store pharmacy seems to be willing to order it for me. They apparently had a patient order it and I got to it first (lol)...now, I call a week or so ahead of when I need it, let them know I'll be coming in and please get and hold the sandoz for me. They've been very very good to work with. Good luck...

Added comment which I had forgotten. After my problem with Mylan, my Dr indicates on the script "MUST BE SANDOZ".

I hope this helps also
