Breast implants - size consideration [Archive]

My husband and I are beginning to consider my having breast implants. I am 50, I weigh 118 lbs., and am not quite a "B" cup. In a particular circle of our friends, all the woman have implants. I asked them general questions about their implants, one of which was relating to their sizes. A few of them are huge, and the rest of them are very large, only one is a "C" cup. One of the friends who looks particularly stunning has "550's", according to her husband. The general concensus among a couple who were not so large, they mentioned they would have gotten larger implants. The "C" cup expressed that she wishes she had gone larger.

I would like to pose these questions to those of you who have implants. How did you choose your size? Are you satisfied with the size you've chosen?

I have not noticed anyone having stretch marks, and I am curious how a woman gets significantly larger breasts without any visible stretch marks.

One more thought I have is regarding fitting into blouses and tops. I am a small-framed woman, 5'6", who wears a junior size 5 or a misses size 2. Could it be difficult to buy tops for a small-sized woman with large breasts? I am supposing I would have to replace my wardrobe of tops and swimsuits.

I have had 3 surgerie's and wish i went bigger too! I went from an A to a B to a C cup. I am 5"5 and weigh 125. Im happy with the size..........someday i may change them............the one risk you have going very large is rippling and other risks become bigger too............the larger you go. You want to try to match your frame. If you are a petite women then i wouldnt go huge! If you are bigger boned then you could get away with it. Also my PS told me that the bigger they are the more unatural they can look. C actually is a perfect size for my frame.

The bottom line is are "you" happy with what size.......I asked for "c's" and much to my suprise I woke up with "D's" because my DOCTOR felt it would better compliment my larger framed shoulders and height........make sure you talk with your doctor and make YOUR wishes known.Also,no one told me there are several methods to putting in implants.I expected what I saw in modified women....no stretch marks or scars and evenly shaped.I woke up with both breasts cut underneath from side to side that left horrible scars and stretch marks everywhere and they DO NOT MATCH.Check out your doctors work,most have before and after photos,but make sure you feel safe,informed and happy with the choice YOU make.Best of luck to you.

You are soooo right, i have seen so many other ways to placeing the implants without scarring! I also have seen beautiful work from PS in Beverly Hills CA.............Obviously they probably get the best! I wish i had asked about the breast implants thru the bellybutton or armpit! Alo i have heard there are implants that have a valve, so if you decide you want to go bigger, then they only make a tiny incision and fill them up! Wish i had known this before..............since this surgery is soooooo expensive!

Are the ladies who have had the implants active and athletic? I am very active and workout regularly at the gym. I run and lift weights and enjoy a kick-boxing class every now and then. Do implants restrict movement or jumping around? Are they heavy or cumbersome for an active woman?

I am an "exersise freak"! I go to the gym 6 days a week. After you get them, obviously you have to take time of from exersisng.....which is the hardest part of the surgery! After you get the ok from the PS, the implants do not interfere with exersise. I recommend you still wear a support bra, but you should anyways whether you have implants or not. I've had no problems as far as working out.

I had implants in 98. I went from a "aa" to a "c". All i wanted was to look natural. I love my "c" 's but i wish i had gone larger.("D"). A "c" isn't all that big. I am 5'1 and at the time of my implants i weighed 110. I now weigh 140 and have recently had a baby and am trying to lose weight. I do aerobics, weight training and take tae kwon do. My boobs dont interfere with it at all. The only problem i've had is that my breast constantly produce milk, which started shortly after i got them and is still doing it now. And some areas of each breast are still numb after all this time. I dont mind dealing with all that though, i just wanted to feel more confident about myself. Good luck to ya

Thank you, all, for your responses. I'll let you know if and when my considerations get more serious about having implants. I conclude that from what I've read and heard, bigger is better, and that a "D" does not seem unreasonable.

I would like to learn more about your shopping experiences when you are looking for blouses and tops. I probably have over a hundred tops I've acquired over several years I'd not be able to wear, and I don't know how easy a time I would have if I began shopping for new tops.

Are the "D" implants heavy or cumbersome? Does anyone experience back or shoulder pain?

I've spoken with an acquaintance at the gym who exercises regularly since her lift and implants. She looks great and does not have any problems that she's mentioned.
