I am a male with iron deficency but NOT anemia. I can not figure it out. I have chronic sinusitis but no active infections.

My iron saturation is LOW 13 - too low. I supplement Iron in the form of Floridix. 10mg a day which is the recommended amount for men. I have heard only 10% is actually absorbed.

Anyhow My Red Blood Count, Hemoglobin, and Hematocrit are borderline High (Just within range) yet my iron is low.

Any ideas as to what may be the cause?

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor but have an iron problem.
These are my suggestions as to what the problem could be:
Your body is having transport problems. Either you are taking a medication that is preventing the iron absorption, or you could have an immune disorder that is attacking the iron and disabling its effects. Coffee is known to block absorption of iron and vitamin C deficiencies will too. These are suggestions to explore.
