Hi everyone,
I am so sleep deprived. My most troublesome symptom is the constant trips to the bathroom during the night. Since I have such a sensitive stomach. I can't tolerate the medication that my doctor prescribed. I don't have a bladder infection, but still the many trips to the bathroom. Since I work full-time, this is especially discouraging to me. I feel like a zombie every day at work now.
I am usually a cheerful person, but this is really getting me down. What is your most troublesome symptom or symptoms...??
Thanks everyone,
Lynn

Only got 5 hours sleep last night so read your message with great intent. I went through nearly 2 months of getting up between 5 and 6 times in the night. It got so bad even during the day that I now know where every bathroom is in every shopping mall I frequent LOL. I was so tired I ended up taking some time off work just so I could catch up on some much needed rest. I switched to a new bcp and it seemed to work, so at least now I only get up once, maybe twice. When I've had a long stretch of broken sleep and feel like a zombie I often take either sleeping pills or a strong antihistamine like Benadryl.
Earlier this year I was on very high doses of corticosteroids and I was given a pill to help with my sensitive stomach. I believe it was called Losec but perhaps your doc can prescribe something comparable.
I sure hope you get some long uninterrupted sleep soon!

Mine is the irritability/weepiness and not being able to control my weight. Nothng I try seems to help either one of those symptoms. I don't have any trouble sleeping anymore since going on my homeopathy remedies. I only wake up usually around 5 a.m. to go to the bathroom. And right now, my periods are so off the wall. I just had one not even two weeks ago for almost 10 days and now I started again! Can't wait until that part is over!

I agree with you that every couple of months there is something different to appear...thank God that they all don't appear at once!
Right now I'm dealing with:
Achy joints (my knees and wrist)
Weight gain
Slight spacey feeling
Changes in my vision
Very irregular menstrual cycle (about every 37-67 days, lasting 5-13 days)
A couple of months ago it was feeling spacey, anxiety, irrational fear, jumpy/jittery feeling, feeling off balanced like I'm leaning to the right, head pains, jolting pain through my head, neck stiffness...ugh, that's all that I want to remember right now :D...
I can tell that it's getting better. :)

Right now it's dizziness. Does anyone else have that? I hate it when I get the anxiety also.

I really had to think about this one. I have so many syptoms, I had to figure out which one troubles me the most. I have to say the zizziness and feeling lightheaded. I usually wake up feeling fine and then BAM the dizzy/foggy/lightheaded things starts. It does wax and wane. Some days I'm totally free from this and then on other days it just lingers. My second one would have to be anxiety/doom and gloom feelings.

Hi again everyone,
All of your replies so far have been soooo helpful. It is so easy to feel alone and think that no one else could possibly feel as bad as I do!
I took today off because of being so sleep deprived from all the trips to the bathroom during the night. TODAY, I have had a little breast pain, the buzzing in my feet and muscle twitches. On top of all that, since I started into peri, I have developed a bunion on my right foot. I know peri doesn't cause this, but my mom had one, and they say that girls are like their moms....hmmmmm...
ALSO...does anyone get really cold in the evenings, even if it isn't that cold outside??
Thanks all--hope you are having a good new year so far (in spite of the suffering)!
I care about all of you,
Lynn

Yes!!! I get really cold sometimes in the evenings and have to take a super hot bath to warm up. I think my most bothersome symptom right now is hot flashes at night -- at least I think that's what they are. I wake up feeling uncomfortablly warm with my heart beating really fast (I have pulsing tinnitis in one ear so I get to hear it speed up too!). Then after I throw my quilt off, I freeze. Seems like it happens a couple times each night -- argh -- I just want to sleep.
:) Thanks for listening and hang in there everybody!

The thing that just really hangs on is the anxiety. I've never really had anxiety that produced physical symptoms, though I have tended to be a "worry-wart" most of my life. Over the past 8 months, since I've been taking supplements and more recently using natural hormones, things have certainly improved, especially my overall energy level. I think that's mainly because I usually sleep okay. The past 2-4 months I've really noticed that inbetween periods I feel pretty good, then PMS sets in for 7-10 days before my period and the anxiety kicks in, mainly at night. I'm usually good during the day, but at bed time, my heart races, my mind races, my ear pulses (I've had tinnitus for years) and I don't sleep. Plus just feeling crampy. I thought last Friday I was getting ready to start and here it is a week later and still no period! I feel like I'm being tortured.
Oh yeah, I do get cold, especially in the evening. Last week when the PMS kicked in, I was actually shivering one night when I went to bed.
I have to say, I'm so glad I found this board and to realize that other women are going through the same thing (and that I'm not dying of some dreaded diseases like I thought in the beginning of all this!)

Hi,
Just am seeing this thread and wanted to say , I too think anxiety is the worst of all the symptoms as it makes everything else so much more exaggerated.
I had very troublesome stomach symptoms the year before last : gas, more cramps than usual around my period, and what was like an IBS ordeal for a few months on and off. I have read on this board alot of women have this but at the time I did not know that. The anxiety about all that made it all much worse.

Anxiety, Anxiety, Anxiety. I think that the anxiety that I have produces all the other symptoms of: dizziness, shortness of breath, frequent urination, aches and pains, cold/hot feelings and on and on.
I know that I tighten every muscle in my body and that causes all these symptoms therefore, I say that the anxiety is the worst.

I'll be 49 in April and this period was the strangest I've had since I was about 12. It was like heavy spotting. No real good flow. I had carpal tunnel and had both hands operated on last July and October. I thought my driving was improving, but now I have problems that could stem from tinnitus since I had a bad bi-lateral ear infection 2 years ago (and veritgo) or it could be anxiety brought on by simply driving. I hate to go far in my car. I have little confidence. I hate heights, I cannot go up escalators but I can go down. I use elevators but if they have glass on the outter part, I face inwards towards the door. To stand out on a balcony gives me a knot in my stomach. Everything inside me screams that it's not safe. So for me it's heights and anxiety driving. Does any of this sound familiar?
