Hi all,
I just joined and have suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome for about ten years now, having had two bouts of Gastroenteritis. The result was IBS after seeing a specialist, I have tried many different therapies and tablets to overcome what is a great problem with my IBS. A question that may be answered from other IBS sufferers is the bad tongue colour I have, my dentist knew I had a stomach problem because of the white fur at the back of my tongue, I hate it I have tried to remove it with various implements and tongue scrape it regulalry, I have to meet my new girlfriend in March 2006 she lives in Turkey, but am worried about my tongue colour. Could it be the tablets I take for my IBS or maybe the fact that I have IBS is why it is so furry. Please if any fellow IBS sufferers have the same coloured tongue reply? I think it may be the medication I am on for my IBS but I could be wrong

I have noticed sometimes that I have a yellowish color to my tongue. I think it may be due to the Imodium that I take daily. Medications can do this to you. You can always ask your doctor if this is a side effect from the med's?

I'm no doctor, but I do know that sometimes it is a vitamin dificiency. My mom had that..it was called Geographic tongue.

I read somewhere that a white coating on the back of the tongue can be a sign of digestive problems.

I've read that it could be due to candida.

Sounds more like thrush or some yeast infection. Have you had an endoscopy. I just had one in Dec. and they tested for fungal infections. They can really play havoc with the stomach and esophagous. I would think that you might ask the dR. if you try the Swish and Swallow stuff for thrush.

Geographic tongue which I have is usually pretty red with all sorts of nooks and crannies. Also it is usually larger than a normal tongue. I hate it when a dentist calls someone in to look at mine. Feel like freakoid. Since I quit smoking it seems much less craggy. I have had what is called "burning mouth syndrome" and Vit B helped with that.
