View Full Version : Does this sound like IBS?

On set of loose stool with frequency change to 5 or so times a day occasionally watery diarrhea. Sometimes mild cramping left lower quadrant, sometimes relieved by bowel movement. Lasted for about 4 weeks then kind of changing to less frequency but a little more cramping (still pretty mild) no looseness but sometimes feels like need to go after just going, sometimes not. Also before I end up having to go a lot of times I can feel very small movements or spasms in the left lower quadrant. Not a lot of real pain with any of this just some twinges and some mild cramping. This very frustrating and has really effected my life.

Have you tried a muscle relaxant like mebeverine (UK drug) or an IBS relief medication? You could also try peppermint tea or peppermint water ( I had this in hospital for heartburn but it also works for bowel spasms)

IBS usually need triggers to start - have you been stressed, diet changed, or had surgery? Personally I would go to my GP if I was in your situation just to ensure that it is nothing else.
