I have just gotten off the pill in November. I was on it for a year. I am now feeling pulling and a dull ache on my right side near my ovary. I feel pain from the ovary to my pelvic area up to my belly buutton. What could this be?

my sister had a hernia....same type of pain....same area. she was able to push her intestine....and the pain would be a little better. she never had it operated on though. is that what you think it is?

I am not sure. Everyday I think that it could be a hernia, a cyst on my ovary or appendix.

Hi Jill,
In my opinion, it could possibly be an ovarian cyst. They come and go usually. Every now and then they come and stay. If you are young, it is more common to have simple ovarian cysts. Your gyno. will probably want to do a vaginal ultrasound. These are easy to do and usually do not hurt. Or, it could just be female type pains, meaning anything inside your reproductive area, could be causing you pain.
Do not panic or stress too much til you talk with your dr. and get the test results back.
Take care.

I am so releived. I went to my gyn doc today and he did a full examination down there and around my groin and hip and said I do not have a hernia, cyst or appendisitis. I am so happy.

Good news...I was going to add that it could be normal pain from ovulation. If you've been on the pill and not ovulating, you probably don't realize you can actually feel it when you ovulate sometimes.
