I've always had bad cramps during the first 2-3 days of my period and they have always been pretty heavy. It feels like I've been stabbed. Fortunately I went on depo in high school and have not had to deal with it for the past few years. Well now I'm off depo because we are TTC and the pain is back. I have to take 10-12 motrin a day to keep the pain at bay (that doesn't completely get rid of it though). I really don't know how I will survive TTCing like this. Painful periods has been most of the reason I've waited to TTC. The pain goes into my right thigh all the way down to my knee and sometimes my pelvic bones ache. The pain even wakes me up in the middle of the night if I don't take 3 motrin before bed. And I have to take more motrin AS SOON AS I wake up and heaven forbid if I over sleep. It has felt like I've been stabbed and cut open from one ovary to the other. This is mostly during my period, but I have had a few occasions where I would get really sharp pains at other times during my cycle. This can't be normal can it?

You should see a DR about this. You have the symptoms of endometriosis. I'm not saying that's what it is, but if you are TTC then you need to find out for certain b/c endo can really interfere with that.

I agree, make an appt with your gyno to get checked out asap. I have endometriosis and the pain you are describing is just like what I had when I used to get periods ( I am on depo now). I still have pain because my endo is now chronic ( I have pain every day) but when it first started I noticed it like you are describing at my time of the month. Endo can also make it hard to concieve.... So is definitely worth making an appt and talking to your doc about this! Good luck! Let us know what happens...
