I need braces, and I want to get Invisalign. My wisdom teeth are growning in. They have been growing in since February, but at a slow pace. On my right side of my mouth, my wisdom tooth has barely broken the surface. On my left side the tooth has broken the surface, but it's not a whole tooth yet. Since my wisdom teeth are not fully grown in, will the orthodontist make me wait to get braces period.

hey i cant say a 100 percent but i have braces and i still have 2 wisdom teeth in and they are impacted.they ususally just suggest you get them out asap so they dont interfere with your ortho treatment.

You should call around to different orthodontists. I have braces and I don't have my wisdom teeth yet. See if any of the offices you call will give you a free consulation. They will answer all your questions and also give you an estimate. Good luck.

My wisdoms were barely coming in when i got my braces and my ortho made a joke but never sad any thing else. But my braces stop right before my wisdoms. So i know it doesn't matter for normal braces. Hope i helped.

I would strongly advise getting your wisdom teeth removed before you invest in braces. You can have them removed even if they are still under the gums. I had braces in high school & at that time I didn't have wisdom teeth yet. Neither my ortho nor my dentist thought I needed to have them removed.

When I turned 29, I began experiencing alot of pain in my mouth. My back teeth started shifting & my bite changed. I have a strong hunch that this is because of the wisdom teeth. There are days when ALL of my teeth hurt.

If you don't have them removed & the wisdoms grow in later, you'll just mess up all of the expensive treatment you've paid for. I am sure this doesn't happen to everyone, but it CAN happen, because I am experiencing it.

They will tell you that if you wear your retainers faithfully, your teeth will all stay in place. This is not true. I've got two permanent retainers that I've had since the day my braces came off. They have never been out of my mouth. Problem? Of the 28 or so teeth in my mouth, only 10 have the benefit of the retainers because they simply don't put them on the back teeth.

If I had it to do over, I'd definitely have had those wisdoms removed. Hope this helps!

Ok, I have tried to reply to this twice already. For some reason my response hasn't appeared either time. I will try this response just as a test. If it works, I'll try to write my comments again.

With my luck, they'll probably all 3 show up tomorrow or something & I'll look like a total goof!

Thanks for replying. I have for invisalign, the day before Thanksgiving. Hopefully the doctor won't delay my treatment because of my wisdom teeth.

Just so you know, If your wisdom teeth decide to come in after your teeth are straight, you could really mess up all that work. It happened to me. Wore braces for 3 years, had nice teeth, didn't wear the retainer like I was supposed to, then the wisdom teeth came in, and wham. They're crooked again. Not nearly as bad as before, but they aren't as straight either. Just a heads up.
