I have a 10 yr old daughter w/autism and she is showing signs of fixing to start her menstual cycle and i do not know what to do about this. I have no idea how to help her understand why this is happening to her or how to take care of herself. Her teacher and others have suggested meds to stop cycle completely and we don't think that is right. You have a period for a reason.
so,can anyone help me?
thanks
paula

she might be able to understand you then if you keep on telling her, my son is 17 and i had to keep on explaining his changes all the time and now finally he understands, i found that repitition works great. you might want to show her a visual aid, use your imagination, good luck i am sure there are other mothers with autistic girls that might have a better way of explaining.

thanks for the advice.....i am sure i am over worrying about this and hopefully she will not freak out on me. Some things we have to tell her over and over again and most of the time we only have to tell/explain once or twice and then she gets it.
again thanks for the advice.
