Hi everyone,

I have read that it might be a good idea to sleep with a bra on. Can this be true? And if it is then any suggestions on what kind to wear? Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I have read that it might be a good idea to sleep with a bra on. Can this be true? And if it is then any suggestions on what kind to wear? Thanks.I guess if you wanted to sleep in a bra, one of those super soft-cup sport bras wouldn't be too uncomfortable. Never heard of sleeping in a bra being a good or bad idea. Seems like it would be more a matter of preference.

I can barely stand to wear one during the day much less try to sleep in one. LOL

I read that sleeping in a bra can keep your breast tissue from stretching and sagging because it is properly supported all the time. It makes sense to me--unfortunately I did not find that out until I was 29 and gravity had already begun to take it's toll. Then I had two children and nursed them and everything got blown all to heck anyway. Maybe if you start out from the beginning doing it, it might help. Myself, I wear an underwire bra 24 hours a day--except while bathing.

I would research this topic more before you come to any conclusions. I've personally heard that wearing bras 24/7 can possibly lead to cancer because it confines the tissue so much. If you do decide to start sleeping in a bra, I would just make sure that it is one that fits to perfection.

I like the above poster who says she can not hardly stand wearing them during the day. I agree with her all the way. I would probably stay awake all night with the stupid thing on. Think Howard Hughes was the only one that wanted women to wear them all the time but then he had his own problems with kleenex and finger nails and the list goes on. I am going to take mine off at night. If gravity wins, so what.

Personnally I wear a bra at night too. Don't know if it's bad or not, but I just don't like my breasts to be "loose" :)

Anyone who is trying to wear a bra to bed in the belief that it will keep their breasts perky longer, is wasting their time. It doesn't work. Our bodies age, not only externally, but internally as well. Our breast tissue contains a lot of fat and as we get older, we lose more of that fat. The skin stretches as we grow, and as we get older, it loses it's elasticity and parts begin to sag. Every cell and every tissue in our body goes through changes as we age. If you wrapped your breasts up securly and never let them out, they'd still sag as you age. It's not just gravity that does it.

Pregnancy will stretch out the breast tissue no matter what you do to try to prevent it. You might not see the effects until you're older, or you might see them right away. Everyone's body is different.

Wearing a bra to bed does NOT cause cancer. That's yet another urban myth.

Wearing a tight-fitting bra to bed could possibly cause circulation problems. It could constrict the blood flow which wouldn't be healthy.

If you just WANT to wear one to bed, like starsofglass said, because she feels more comfortable in one, then at least wear one that's not tight-fitting.

I've always worn a bra to bed, ever since I started wearing one. Back then, I didn't know it wasn't the norm :P
