can someone tell me what their headache feels like!! I have never had headaches like this before, Are they migraines?? Pain that just sits on top of my head and sometimes runs down my face and into my nose, my nose actually hurts. Also I have all these sharp pains bursting out in my head.
I have had 2 head CTs that showed absolutely nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

I woke up with a headache this morning...I think it's a migraine because I've taken a pain reliever and it hasn't gone away, I feel nauseated, the pain is in my eyes, and neck. I have food allergies that will trigger a migraine. I'm going to try and sleep this off. I hope you begin to feel better soon. :)

Migraines are usually on only one side of the head. Mine can begin as a classic headache, and then later it'll turn into a migraine. It settles behind one eye, in my temple, and around the back of my ear, and sometimes clear around to the back of my neck. The pain is throbbing, and sometimes even kind of burning. I feel nauseous, and I sometimes actually throw up. Light really bothers me, and hurts my eyes. I'm also sensitive to sound (even slight sounds). I get very moody and just want to be left alone in a dark room with a pillow over my head. That is my experience with migraines. I absolutely hate them. I can sympathize with you!

Hi
My headaches are not just headaches. I get this strange electric burning sensation that zings up the side of my head. It feels like it may start in my shoulder, then travels up my neck to my head. It's not constant, but when it happens it makes me pause and ask, "what was that"! I had this on and off for a couple of months and then I got sore areas all throughout my scalp. When I brush my hair it feels like I have little pimples in about 5 or 6 spots and they hurt. My hair began shedding but that too stopped. As far as my head goes I also get lightheaded, feel outside of myself, and have a dull low level headache just before and during my period. My vision gets weird, too. It takes a second to focus sometimes. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm surprised I haven't run to a neurologist to beg for a CT scan. Sometimes with my anxiety I have myself convinced I have some terminal disease because of my symptoms. Before I realized I was in perimenopause I was having ultrasounds, endoscopies, mammograms, CT scans.....you name it....to try to figure out what was wrong with me.

I'm so glad I found this board. I think I have more than half of the posted symptoms. I knew I was in for rough ride because I had terrible post partum depression and awful PMDD throughout my 30's. I read somewhere that menopause would be hard if you had these previous mentioned problems.

Thanks to everyone who shares. It helps me tremendously!

Happy New Year

Joyce, you may have a combination of anxiety
AND migraines. What a fun time of life this is (NOT). Since I've been in peri, I've had some of the strangest symptoms that I've never even dreamed was imaginable. Sounds like you're going through the same thing, even though our symptoms are not exactly the same. I've also had several tests over the last couple of years for thyroid, heart and an upper endoscopy. My thyroid is enlarged, but has been for quite a few years, and there is nothing wrong with it outside of some small nodules. I do have Mitral Valve Prolapse, and this probably causes a lot of my heart symptoms, but its gotten a lot worse since I started peri, and I think peri just tends to aggrevate symptoms we already have. Like migraines. Mine are much more frequent now that my hormones have gone ballistic. I've had hot flashes too, and my sleep is rarely good, despite taking medication before bed for anxiety. I sure hope this doesn't last much longer. I can't imagine going through seven or more years of symptoms!

I am hoping that these headaches like everything else over the past year will only last about another couple of months and then go away. I too like Joyce have come to accept that my many symptoms have to all be peri-related. If I look over the past 3 years, I see lots of unrelated health issues that now come altogether to be part of peri, I had no idea that aching joints, indigestion etc had anything to do with peri, i thought it was all about hot flashes and not sleeping and funny thing those things are the least of my worries.
These headaches and buzzes are very scary, I have had 2 long-term sinus infections over the past 2 1/2 months and they have only made me feel worse, brain fog and not being able to clear my head are on-going also.
I so agree with Joyce about reading this board, people who share their stories do make a big difference to people out there who are seeking assurance. It helps to know that other people have had this crazy stuff too!!!

Hi Everyone,
You know, Randi, my sleep patterns have changed drastically, too. I never woke up during the night.....and now, I'm up 3 or 4 times....and when I do wake up I feel sick and then I panic....over nothing. I'm sorry to hear about the heart issues you are dealing with. You are right, I did read that peri can exaserbate existing ailments.
I think I'm going to start keeping a diary of symtoms and when they occur. I'm beginning to see a rotation based on my cycle. I think this will help anticipate when I can expect the worst days and perhaps if diet, etc. has some impact. I do use the progesterone cream and could not live without.

.....all for now
Joyce
