well some of you have been chattin w/ me...and a quick overview is...

I had lasik about 1 year and a few weeks ago...left eye gives me more problems, right seems ok...My lasik eye doc just kept saying I was ok...put in more drops basically...

My original eye doc before my surgery did the eye test and i read 20/20 left and 20/10 right! I read the 20/10 with out straining. haha. I wish the left was sharper though!

He said my eyes were very dry and I had even slept with ointment before i went to bed and came in this morning at 11:15...

I brought in all my eye products I use and he thinks I am having problems from preservatives from the drops. I use refresh liquigel/tears. He gave me some Thera Tears Luquid Gel capsules. He said to stick to the tubes and not to use anything in bottles. (I had the tubes before but the bottles are so much easier!

I asked him on a scale of 1-10 how dry my eyes were, with 10 being the worst, and he said probably about a 7. He also said that being that dry would definately cause my headaches and vision problems because I have a lot of dry spots.

He wants to see me back in 2 weeks, and if that dont work, he wants me to try that rostasis stuff, but said its $100 for a month supply if my insurance dont cover it! So hopefully just using the thera tears liquid gel tubes will be ok.

Hopefully it works ok for me! He also said he wouldnt use the eye ointment either...

I will see how it goes. suprisingly after that visit and putting a few drops in of the tube drops I feel a little better already haha. a lot of it is mental too and knowing this should help, I kinda feel better already hahah. I will keep you guys updated if u want...

Thanks for reading ;)

Thanks for sharing the information! I will definitely look into the Thera Tears Gel tubes, can you please give me some background on your surgery. Did you have bad vision at first before the surgery? And after your surgery how long was it before the blurriness went away and you could see clearly and felt good about the whole sugery?... it's been a little over 3 weeks for me and it is slowly getting better, but like I said I have the early morning best and then day time bad and then night time sometimes ok.

Thanks again
Cari

hey before my surgery i was -3.50 and -3.75 for pretty much 3rd grade - 23 years old...after the surgery i could see great. i came home took a nap woke up amazed. The coming weeks/months they would get blurry from time to time then clear up. Then thru summer i did good, but i had headaches..and i think a lot of it may have to be been due to dryness all along. Your eyes might feel ok but be dried in the cornea not just on the surface...

i guess the tubes are best like i said because they dont have preservatives. He told me to use the gel tubes or tears...the ones i have are thera tears liquid gel. he said they are just thicker, and if i can stand those to use them daily, if not use the tears ones and the gel at night.

goodluck..

Thanks for the details! I wonder why some people see so great right away and others have to wait for improvement... :( I'm really annoyed, I was hoping for results like yours! Right away, I don't get it? Is it the Dr.? The Machine? Each indiv. person? The Dr. said everyone heals differently, I also had bad eyes since I was in like 2nd grade and -2.25 and -1.75 basically could see nothing without corrective lenses in some way, I'm almost 37 though.. ouch, so maybe age has something to do with it also!?? I'm just tired of being patient and want to go on with my life, I think a lot of the problems IS dry eyes, I even feel like I have dry eyes... but once again today I woke up with really good vision and within 30-45 min. it was burry again... don't get it. Patience is get tiring.. ha...

Anyway, so how are the Gel drops working?? Good I hope! It's great that you can see so well!! :) God willing my eyes will eventually make it to that point. Thanks for sharing your story!

Scion,
I'm really glad that you got checked out by a reg. eye doctor. My eye doctor also told me that the Thera Tears Liquigel is really good. I've had a lot of problems with dry spots on my eyes also - but I can really feel them most times. I think that it's funny how some people can really feel the dryness and others can't.

Just an update...after using only thera tears or the gel in the little single use capsules I have seemed to notice a improvement. Like I think said earlier, our eyes may be dry internally without us even really noticing. If my doc said i was 7/10 for dryness...I'd never of guessed that as they always looked glossy...maybe he was right and using the bottled tears so often, the perservatives got to me. These specifically say "perservative free" on the box...mornings are still pretty dry, but im blaming that on the weather ;)

Scion, How often did your doctor recommend that you use drops? Do you like the Thera Tears Gel for nighttime use? I'm thinking of trying it for that.\

Hi Ryan,

Glad to hear that you seem to be having luck with the new drops. I was wondering what your doctor said about lasik healing. I believe you are around 1 year post-op..did the doctor seem to think that your eyes would still continue to heal and get better on their own...so that you don't have to keep using the drops all the time? Thanks!

My eye doctor said to use the drops for 2 weeks, and to input drops every 2 hours and come back and see him after those 2 weeks to check how my eyes are doing. I guess it makes sense if your putting in drops 5-10 times a day with perservatives in them, that maybe it is what is irritating my eyes...? It seems to, because since i've been doing the Thera Tears perservative free tubes my eyes feel much more clear and a lot less of headaches! Let you know what he says in 2 weeks!

I hope this isnt a lifetime thing I have to put in drops every 2 hours lol...he said most lasik eyes heal after 6 months or so from dryness, and he wants to make sure we get my eyes moisturized properly like they should be.

well, its Tuesday Jan 10th now, and I dont go back in until Saturday for it being 2 weeks. I must say using these preservative free drops my eyes feel a lot better. I've also been taking the thera tears nutrition but I'm going to have to stop, I think its making my face break out (its like taking oil in a pill hehe) And its making me get breakouts which I never had before the pills.

Only thing I dont like is thinking that it will always be this way? I dont want to have to put drops in my eyes every 2 hours for the rest of my life...I hope it heals itself, or see about getting those plugs...but he never mentioned that...I still wanna ask him about computer glasses, that are suppose to make looking at a computer 9-5 Monday-Friday at work less painfull on the eyes ;) I try and take more breaks nowadays and relax my eyes more, and it helps. But I have my amazing days vs my crappy days still.

Will let u know what the doc says on Saturday...
