My 2 1/2 year old has started taking his clothes and diaper off and running to the toilet. He will jump on the big potty and just sit there. He then will jump off, rub his hands together , and then flushes. He hasn't gone potty YET but pretends. I wasn't flustered untill he started taking off his clothes every 10 mins and runs to the bathroom. He also has started doing this when I put him to bed ...only he will pee in his crib. I have begun taking him to the bathroom before I put him to bed but he hasn't yet learned how to "make it come out". He is severly language delayed and doesn't talk so we have a hard time communicating with him and vice versa. Any Ideas?

It is good that he knows what the motions are for going potty. My daughter tells me after she pees in her underwear. An idea is to just repeat the same words over and over and over. At times that you think he will go potty, take him in and sit him up there. I wouldn't discourage him from going into the bathroom. Perhaps you could teach him to only take his pants off, instead of all his clothes. As for nighttime, I have to get a sleeper that doesn't have feet. Then put it on him backwards. It still fits, but he won't be able to take it off. I have on without feet, and it is a huge help when my daughter just won't cooperate with me. Good luck.
Have you tried sitting him on the toilet and then running the tap.
The sound of running water might make him wee.
You could try sitting on the toilet yourself and let him hear the sound of water.

He will get there, be patient. As for him taking his clothes off, at least he isnt going to have any 'accidents' on them, its great practice for his motor skills too putting them back on.
He knows where to go and isnt frightened, let him take his time, he is at about the right age (if there ever is one!!!!) let him enjoy his new play activity.
