I have intermittent pain in the area under my right rib cage I have been told this could be hepatitis. I am really nervous now. I am 21 years old. The only possible exposure I have had is one instance of un-protected sex, a little more then a year ago. The pain seems to be worse when sitting or laying down to sleep. When I am standing or walking, the sensation rarely presents it self. Sometimes I feel like something is fluttering in there, my liver? Food does not seem prompt the feeling. Alcohol does not seem to affect it. After a good night of drinking, I not only did not feel any pain, I did not have any pain the next morning. My skin color has not changed. My stool does not look light or have blood in it. I have an appointment with the doc, but I am nervous, and also i feel weird about just comming out and saying my worst fears.
What do you all think?

Their is more than one type of hepatitis. Heptitis A can happen just from eating foods that have been touched by the unclean hand, or from not washing your hands after using the restroom. It's from bacteria and if it is infact Heptitis A, it is contagious, but their really is no cure for it, as I have just read up on this, cause I was worrying about it myself. It will gradually go away, but it sounds as if you are just worrying about that for nothing.

The stool colours are a big factor in hepatitis, as well as dark urine colours. You seem to know the symptoms, and one symptoms out of the lot would be something to gamble on. You shouldn't worry about that...

It could be something else, but it's not safe to say what until you have it checked out. Good luck.
