I have pernicious anemia. Was diagnosed 7 years ago. Been doing the monthly injects my self in the same leg all the time, and was doing okay. but now I'm experiencing some symptoms. My B-12 levels are okay, no, anemia, but my stomach, hands, feet, memory, are telling me I need more B-12! Is this possible?

Hey chatylady, though i normally don't float the Anemia threads your title grabbed my attention. Have you thought about taking Sublingual b-12 , letting it dissolve under your tongue and making its way to your Carotonoid Artery. I usually take mine twice a day. Maybe in the future you'll not have to take shots ! later!!

I was also diagnosed with pernicious anemia. I also have taken B-12 injections and you can build a tolerance to the dosage over time. Meaning that the body adjusts to the B-12 and stops absorbing it. But, the symptoms you are describing may be a Thiamine deficiency instead of a B-12 problem. Ask your doctor to test you for it. The neurological symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are similar and also folic acid deficiency will also cause the neurological symptoms and on the other hand, folic acid taken in the absence of adequate B-12 will cause problems also. The best thing if possible is to get your doctor to run a b-vitamin profile or complete Vitamin profile to see where any possible deficiencies may lie.
