Is it bad to exercise with anemia?

My doctor tells me that she is 99% sure that I have anemia (pending blood tests; I get those back tomorrow). I have an increased heart rate (resting pulse is about 111 beats/minute, as opposed to my usual 75ish beats/minute), and have been having constant dizziness, as well as the other anemia symptoms. I am enrolled in a health class at school, and we are now covering the exercise portion. Would it be bad to for me to exercise? Or would it actually help me?

Thanks.

Exercise is always something that you want to do within your limits. The rule of thumb is to be able to hold a conversation while running, walking or lifting. If the exercise does not permit you to have air left over to talk, then it is too much for your fitness level.

I wonder about exercise while anemic too, trouble is I am too tired to do so, but I read that the body releases hormone to produce blood cells in response to hypopoxia, I think that is how it is spelled, where the muscles are not getting enough oxygen and signal the body to produce more, so I guess moderate exercise would help speed up recovery from anemia, tho I am not sure about that.
