I had a steroid injection in my left wrist for cts. After a 3-4 day flare-up of worse cts symptoms, my hand feels no different from before the injection. I go back to my doctor at the end of the month. Did the injection work for anybody else in clearing up cts? I have read that it isn't permanent. If the injection doesn't work, is surgery the only other option? I've tried physical therapy - it didn't help. I wear splints at night, but they don't keep my wrists immobile, should I get the more rigid ones to keep my wrists perfectly straight?

Photo. I wonder if the exercises at the morehead site listed in the archives might help. A friend of mine who does a lot of computer work, said she did exercises daily for her carpal tunnel problem and no longer has a problem. I know she did them for several months and I think she still does them for a few weeks every so often.
As for the cortisone, I currently am having some cortisone treatments....no needle...for my tennis elbow on my right arm. ( an over use problem from having problems after ct release on left last year). The process is iontophoresis....dexamethasone is put on a pad on plastic adhesive patches that have electrode attachments....with a charge, the dex is delivered through the skin. It doesn't deliver as big a dose as the injections, so a minimum of 6 treatments is needed. I also have to rub ice on affected areas a few times a day....until numb and before frostbite...as well as doing stretching exercises. Hope that will keep it from getting worse, and maybe it will get better faster.
