alot of shampoos and conditioners claim that it will give you shiny and frizz free hair, but i have tried them all and none of them really do very much, not the improvement it says its going to give at least. Does anyone know of anything that actually really does the trick, or is it helpless?

duff,
I never ever have had luck getting nice hair from shampoos or conditioners, I've tried and tried and I used to think it was hopeless, but if your really serious about wanting to improve your hair, try taking flax oil, you can buy a bottle of it at Walmart or your local grocery, or health food store. It takes maybe up to 2 weeks till you see results, but it's excellent for your hair, I've used it and my hair got so shiny and soft. You just have to be consistent with it and take it every day, I would take it first thing in the morning like 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of the oil (make myself) so I didn't have to think about it for the rest of the day. Not only does it make your hair beautiful, it also has many health benefits. What I'm doing now also, and it makes my hair nice too, is after I wash it and it's still wet, 1st I brush my hair then I real lightly rub avacado oil through it. Makes it nice and your hair won't frizz. It took me a few trys till I got the right consistency in my hair though. Hope I helped you somewhat :)

I have found that if you use a straigtener and then some hair wax, it can make your hair shiny & the hair wax works great for the frizz. I never thought about it until someone at work told me that they couldn't believe how shiny my hair was and I never did anything special to it, I just followed my regular routine....Also, make sure you get regular 6-8 week trims (whichever works best for you) to keep the split ends and frizz at a minimum. :D

These are excellent ideas. you can also boil flax seeds and use the gel (end product of boiling the seeds) in your hair. I have never tried it but have read good things about it.
Aside from avocado oil, you can try castor oil too. Because castor oil is sooo much thicker than avocado, be sure to use less.
the Garnier Fructis products are very good. And they have a product for frizzies in the small round clear jar with pump dispenser. Forget the name but the ingredients include avocado oil and dimethicone. Anytime you see dimethicone in a hair product - your looking at shine and tangle free-dom.
I make my own hair shine product and dimethicone is an important and main ingredient. But I would still highly recommend the avocado or castor. My mom told me that she use to use castor oil and olive oil (not at the same time) on her hair when she was younger and she always had a nice shine.
