My nephew lives with me and he really is getting on everyones nerves because he wont eat any of his meals and he constantly wants to just eat candy and refuses to eat anything healthy!! His parents dont let him do that so he just ends up eating nothing at all. I know this is extremely normal, but I was wondering if anyone had any luck working with a child like this and what worked for them??

Believe me...when he gets hungry...he will eat. Don't buy the snacks and candy so he won't even ask and if he does, you can say, don't have any....he truly will eat when he's hungry......we all do!!!

I have a 2 year old who is the same way and also ends up eating NOTHING. He goes for entire days at a time eating NOTHING, but I can't cater to his every whim. If he doesn't eat what the rest of the family is eating, unfortunately he eats nothing. About once a week he will eat a good meal, and he is otherwise healthy (although a little on the skinny side) so I can't worry about it. It drives my mother CRAZY however...

Like the others have said...your nephew will eat eventually. He's going to get so hungry that he'll eat anything. Yes, as hard as it is to believe, he will finally stoop to the level of real food and indulge in it. Once kids acquire a taste for candy, that's all they want - that first taste is like a little chunk of heaven.
It's just a phase, and he'll grow out of it. My only advice is to not force him to eat anything, because that will just create more of an aversion to real food and a strengthened desire for sweets. Trust me, he won't starve.
