Hi,
I've been taking 12.5 mg of Paxil CR for about 3 weeks now. I have heard soo many horror stories of people gaining weight on this drug. My doctor assured me that the new formula won't cause this to happen, but I don't believe it. I already am feeling fat. How long into treatment and how big of a dosage usually causes weight gain? I am soo paranoid and really don't want to gain anything! Not even half a lb! Please help with any answers you can give.

Hi
I am a 21 year old university student who has also just started paxil (a week ago), and like you I am terrified of weight gain. Last year before my depression hit I worked really hard to loose over 15 lbs and I don't want to gain any back. Like you I have heard the horror stories and I am a bit worried. I have heard mixed things though. Its hard to know what to believe. I guess I am not helping much, but I do know how you feel. I hope that everything works out for you.

Hello Jellibeans and HolidayGirl,
I know this has been said a zillion times but, everybody's body chemistry is different. I've heard horrible stories about meds that caused weight gain(and I've been on some), for some.......and others said they never gained a pound.
It's just something you have to try for yourself and if you feel you need to - monitor yourself each day, by weighing and if you start to see a change...call your doc and see if he can make some adjustments.
Hope this didn't sound terribly shallow...I meant it to be of some little help.

Best wishes,
leppi
