Maybe someone out there can help me with this question.
I recently began taking Effexor XR again after being off of it for over a year. I've always had terrible insomnia and the Effexor always makes it worse in the beginning while I'm getting used to it (I'm also taking Ambien for the insomnia). The last few nights, I sleep for a few hours and then wake up tossing and turning for several hours. Occasionally I will fall back asleep and I wake up gasping for air, as though I have stopped breathing.
I remembered that my doctor once told me that some people experience very vivid nightmares while taking Effexor, but that was never a problem for me. Now I try to remember my dreams when I wake up in this state of panic (for lack of a better word), and I am not having nightmares.
Does anyone know if the Effexor is causing this? Has anyone else had a similar experience?
I know it will just take time for my body to get used to the meds again, and I have had great success with them in the past, it's just a terrifying feeling to wake up like this.
XOXO,
Ladybug
