Hi Everyone,
For those of you who have LPR, how many have a painful sore throat that just won't let up? I took Nexium 40 mg twice a day for six months and stopped it because it didn't seem to help although the ENT docs said it takes a minimum of 6 months to a year so I'm back on it. I'm so sick of suffering with this. I'm truly considering surgery down the road but would like to know if anyone out there has undergone the Stretta, endocynch or "gatekeeper" therapy where they inject a blocking substance around the LES? Would love to hear from you.

suncat,
Hello, I also have a really bad burning in my throat. It started with having nausea and I started taking nexium 40mg once a day but the burning in my throat is still there all the time. So now I am going to take the nexium in the morning and in the night. So you have been doing it for 6 months and it still has not helped?? Please let me know more of your story or if you ever find anything to take the burning away.

Andra 31,
It started about year ago. I was in a really stressful job and drank alot of coffee, so maybe the caffeine affected the lower esophageal sphincter in some way. I don't drink or smoke, exercise regularly, am not overweight and eat pretty healthy, so I don't know why this all came about. What's weird though, is that I had a sinus lift with a titanium dental implant right upper back tooth around the same time this started. My dentist and one second opinion dentist as well as two ENT's said titanium or the lift causing the sore throat was highly unlikely. Maybe it was just conincidence. I have some viscous lidocaine that one can get by prescription to swish and spit out but you have to be extremely careful not to swallow it because of it's numbing effects. Other than that, lot's of sore throat lozenges, cepacol throat spray, popsicles, ice chips, etc. I have a bad cold and it's just intensifying the throat pain. :(
