My girlfriend has been suffering for a number of years with strange pains. They can occur at any time in any part of the body and are like a very painful ache. She has seen her GP many times and keeps having painkillers prescribed. She had been told she will be referred to a specialist, but nothing has happened regarding that in 6 years.
Over the past few days, she has had a re-occurance of this problem, although far more extreme that ever before. All of her limbs are now causing her extreme pain, to the point where she can barely move them, holding things and picking things up is are major problems. She is also experiencing numb sensations in her hands. Regular painkillers like Co-Codomol are not touching the pain.
She has unfortunately lost all faith in GP's through all this and fears that another visit to see her GP will result in yet another fob-off.
Can anyone offer any help or advice please?

Has she taken any medicine in the past that could be the cause of all her symptoms?. There are plenty of drugs that cause those symptoms like inmunosupressors, pains for rheumatoid illnesses, antibiotics like cipro, levaquin, floxin, avelox, and many more.
Just to rule a delayed reaction to a drug, very common.
