Has anyone tried the Lucinda Bassett tapes and have they been helpful?

Yes. About fifteen years ago I was up late watching tv and one of those info-mercials came on. It was Linda Bassit. I was so blown away by what was said by the people on there that I started crying. There were people just like me out in the world, I wasn't alone! The funny thing is that even though help was right there infront of me I figured it had to be a scam...all those late night info-mercials are scams. I thought, "Damn, they are good, they almost got me". Inside though I knew this was real. I was avoiding getting the tapes because I didn't want anybody to see me with any "self-help tapes" in my hand. I imagine having OCD also prevented me because I never want any help for anything I do in life. I have to do it all myself.
Anyway, it took me three years to finally get the tapes. (they were sort of pricey too). They saved me. They explained so much that I had been going through for at least thirty years, starting when I was six. One of the most important things was they mentioned OCD symptoms that could be feeding the panic and anxiety. OCD. I finally found the answer to not only my panic and anxiety but to my obsessive crazy thoughts as well as the answer to some of my tics and compulsions.
So...I would say yes, get the tapes. They are more panic and anxiety related than OCD, but there is some overlap. The tapes gave me alot of peace of mind. : )

Awesome Dogbone, thank you so much for the reply. I have ordered them and look forward to listening to them. They are actually for my 15 yr old son that has OCD. You are right about them being pricy but how do you put a price tag on HELP...lol...

You are right hope71, you can't put a price on the help the tapes gave me. In hindsite I wish I hadn't waited three years to get them. I also wish the tapes had been around back when I was a kid. You are doing a good thing for your son. I never talked to my parents about what I was going through back then. I was also good at hiding my OCD.
There are some good books on OCD that are available now. Have you looked into them?
