I had a kidney infection last week which I must say was one of the most painful experiences of my life.

For the last 5-6months i've been suffering with lower back pain on my right hand side which goes into my groin it comes and goes and somethimes its worse than others. Now last week as i said I had a infection (fever bad bad pain shivers) had the anti biotics and the infection cleared up I had 2 pain free days but now today the pain in my back/side/groin has returned it makes me feel sick untill it passes. I went to the doctors and he dipped my urine and said it was clear but he has sent it of to the lab for ferver testing.

Really could do with some help is it stones I thought that only men suffered from them and if there are stones can they cause the infection

thanks for your help im just so worrid

Kidney stones are more common in men, but I've had them off and on for over 30 years and I'm not a guy!!!!!! I have one now that's still in my left kidney. Since it's not causing me any symptoms, I'm not going to do anything about it. Also, small stones may not show up on xrays. I had an xray last year which showed 2 small stones in my right kidney that didn't show up on this year's xrays, so either I passed them or they're too small to show up. Yes, stones can cause an infection. You can have a non-invasive xray called a KUB. It takes 2 minutes. Have you seen a Urologist? I'd do that if I were you to find out what's going on. Good luck.
