Hello.

My husband has a pimple-like red bump on his penis. It is not a blister or wart. It has a small white dot on top of the pimple. I am concerned that it may be an STD but wonder if it's possible that it is just a pimple or ingrown hair.

I am free of STD's and we have been married for over 2 years. I know my husband would never cheat on me and when he is not at work we are attached at the hip.

Either way...we are not having sex at all until it is gone. He says it hurts like a pimple. I did have a cold sore on my lip and just licked the tip of his penis for a teaser one night. Is it possible that I may have given him herpes from that!?

So where did this thing come from? And what is it?

Any ideas?

It is possible to pass herpes via oral contact, but this does not sound like herpes. This does not really sound like any STD, though molluscom is a slight possibility. If it doesn't go away or if it starts to hurt, then he should see a doctor about it. It might just be a, well, pimple or infected hair follicle.

Hello. My poor hubby is really freaking out. The bump is getting a little bigger and he says it does hurt when he walks. We decided that if it is not going away by Friday morning then we are going to the Doc. Hopefully it's nothing.

Then it is probably not molluscum, either. I doubt it is an STD but something else, but he would be wise to get it looked at if it is still getting worse.

Well...an update on this situation. We have been careful to avoid any sexual contact. The bump actually popped into a blister and is now on it's way to healing. We are going to assume that this is genital herpes as I did have oral contact with him when I had fever blisters on my mouth. Shame on me! I should've known better. He didn't stop me either. Hopefully he won't go through a painful outbreak again.
