Does anyone here take procrit injections?

I do, and I wanted to know if the injection stung anyone? It hurts so much while I'm injecting! Thanks for the help!

Could you tell me is this injection is for the low Hemoglobin? How low are you that needed an injection put thro? I better tell the Dr I don't want any needles before hand. I'm very scare of needle.

Yes it is for low hemoglobin... I'm not sure how low it has to be, the only reason I took it is because I'm on treatment for Hep C, and take interferon injections... which messed with my hemoglobin.

Procrit injections are only for very specified types of anemia. They are generally not used for people with iron deficiency anemia as most can make blood just fine as long as all the ingredients are present. (Iron being the "missing ingredient" with this form of anemia. Many people with cancer get these injections as their disease and treatment take a big toll on their ability to keep their blood levels up. I've watched many patients at the hematology/oncology office get these and they all say they sting like crazy. I've also noticed that they are given quite slowly--OUCH!!! :eek:

I can escape, I'm safe now. Anyway, my anemia was caused by "Tambocor". After I stopped it 3.5 months, it has gone up 8 (from 97 to 105) now. I feel relief.

I used to have Procrit injections for the same reason you did....because I was on treatment for Hep C and it made me anemic. Check out this thread that I started last year

regarding the injection. It hurt me sooo bad, but my nurse practitioner gave me a smaller needle, which helped a little. I also tried distracting myself (by singing :cool: ) while I was injecting it.

Hi, I give myself my own Procrit injections at home when my H&H goes below a certain level. I think it depends on how fast you inject the medicine. If I do it slow enough it doesn't burn, but if I try to inject it too fast...LOOK OUT! It can feel like multiple bee stings. I have anemia that is caused by multiple disease process and auto immune disease.
