I had my primary at the end of october 05 and havnt had any symptoms to date. Is it possible that my culture came back wrong? Have I just not noticed anything because its nothing like my primary (I havnt noticed ANY sores, neuralgia, or redness since oct). I am so confused. I have not gotten bloodwork done because I am waiting on my new insurance. I would really like to know the chances that I was misdiagnosed or the likelyhood that I am asyptomatic. On a side note.. I am not on any suppressives and have eaten many "trigger" foods (aka chocolate, peanuts, gelatin, alcohol... and many others) and still have NOTHING (that I notice)..... Any input would be very helpful. Thanks

Something I learned a little late in the game when I was searching for answers and the truth...PP gives a low cost/no cost test that can tell you what you have if you want to find out for sure- not sure if it's just for women though.

Hello there!
I actually found out I had herpes in november 2004. Believe it or not I havent had an OB since. I had a culture swab done and it came back positive. I asked the same question you did once i went about 6months OB free....To be honest with you the culture swab is practically 100& efficent. You may not have another OB for the rest of your life. Or you may get one in a couple of years from now.

You may be in the same boat I was. I had only been with 3 partners in my life. When I had my primary I had already been dating my now fiance for over a year...we dont know if it came from him or not...I was always faithful and I trust he was too.

I am not on any suppressives either. My doctor gave me a perscriptions for ayclovir just incase I have another OB. But thankfully I havent had to use it....you can get a blood test done if you wish, but I think your going to find that the culture was correct. I hope that helped...

Thank you both for your replies. I actually do plan on going to PP to get testes... I am in the process of switching ins plans AND trying to find a new gyno (the one that I went to b4 doesnt seem to be too knowledgeable/caring about H). I have also heard that PP is my best bet bc they deal with STD's more often than regular gyn's. As for as OB's are concerned... I'm not complaining that I don't get ob's... I'm very happy I don't. I just wish I knew 100% that I have it. I never spoke/saw my doc after my culture... I only got my results over the phone from the NP (who didn't understand/explain the results... or spoke very good english)... Guess it's just a nice, stressful waiting game at this point. Thanks again!

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a PP? I had a blood test done to determine if I was positive for the herpes virus, as the lab lost my swab during my initial outbreak. Is a PP a blood test?

Sorry for the confusion. I didn't want to get in trouble for spelling out.

Anyway, it is a great resource for testing, counseling and medicine. Like someone said previously, they deal with diseases all the time and are more knowledgable and understanding and confidential- I found it after my doctors failed me and told me nothing was wrong and I had been complaining of symptoms for 1 1/2 years.
