Hello..
The ball of my left foot and middle toes are really sore. I've tried soaking and it doesn't seem to be getting better. Someone said it could be gout but it's not swelling much. I have no clue just don't want it to be a blood flow problem. Does anyone have an idea or had a simliar problem?? Any suggestions would be much appreciated..

Describe it a little better...just sore like muscle sore or a pain when you walk, etc....

I just went through surgery for Morton's Neuroma - I originally broke 2 metatarsals way last February, after that they ended up operating on my foot for something but end result - major pain in the ball of my left foot and a lump underneath as well. I literally could not walk without double insoles where a hole was cut for the lump to fit into. I went to Scott & White, driving 8 hours each way - to go to somewhere that I know they'll pay attention and not just blow me off, I'm not imagining this! Finally these doctors looked and felt around and agreed that they were neuromas. When they would push between my toes it hurt so bad. They gave me shots of novacain at first, to try it, sure enough, it was awesome! Cutting the nerves means you have no feeling in some toes, which was no major deal to me, since my first surgery i couldn't feel my middle toe anyway. Well, I'm still in the healing process of the surgery, it will be a week tomorrow and still have 3 more weeks on crutches, and only allowed up for 5 minutes every hour. It's been a long week of just sitting and the driving back and forth for pre-ops, but worth it to finally get an ANSWER!
Good luck! Don't put it off too long though, cuz mine was a mess after gimping around for a month waiting for the first doctor to call me back!

I was going to say Morton's Neuroma. That's exactly what hurts on my left foot. It hurts right between the third and 4th toe actually. That and under the ball of the foot right at that same location or just right between the too, right exactly underneath where they meet. The 4th toe hurts and the little pinky goes numb. Unfortunately my podiatrist says they can't remove mine due to my Raynaud's, Fibromyalgia and Bad back problems. Personally think it's just an excuse. I'm going to seek help through my Orthopedist. I believe you could have a stump neuroma or scar tissue. I would speak with your doc. If you don't get anywhere , I find another doc who is more qualified. That is what I'm going to do.

By the way Titchou, I had asked my Podiatrist about the alcohol solution and she said the VA doesn't do them there. If I wanted them I'd have to go someplace else. Also, with my Raynauds she wouldn't do them on me because it would flare. Raynauds is a nerve condition in the feet that causes the feet to be cold sometimes. Especially the toes.

ZephyrQueen - Could you tell me why exactly they wouldn't do surgery because of Reynauds? I had foot surgery (mid foot fusion, osteotomy, arthritis clean-up) 2.5 months ago - and I have Reynauds. I'm still having a LOT of pain and sometimes a LOT of swelling still... wondering if the reynauds could be a factor in that... I never mentioned the reynauds to my pod, as it never even dawned on me that there would be any problems from that. Now I'm wondering if that could be what's causing some of my on-going problems...

Thanks!
JD
