Hi there--

How are you doing these days? Just wondering if you are doing any better yet? Im getting some more tests done b/c after having this for over 7 years and it not letting up at all, im starting to believe something else is going on other than with my ears. My neuro-oto guarantees me my ears are fine and he has me trying some various medicines. My brain fog is horrible so next time I go to my neurologist I want some sort of brain scan to see how well my brain is functioning, cuz I definitely dont feel like a 26 yr old young woman--more like a 90 year old lady. Just checking up on you to see if youve had some improvement?

How sweet of you to post to me...

Refresh me, have you had this 24/7 for 7 yrs? Kp me informed about what the specialist says. I think unfortunately it is not uncommon for vestibular disorders to last that long...Are you doing VRT?

I had an awful christmas/new yr symptoms wise due to a bad cold. Hit rock bottom mentally. The support from the hospital, my close friends (some of whom are rocks to me) and family, kept me going and my philosophical view of life! As always the whole invisible nature of this illness seemed really prominent when my symptoms were bad as I know that my threshold for coping these days is high and I know that people (normal people) wouldnt believe what I feel (dizziness wise) daily. People presume time heals everything - the fact is I have had little improvement since I got this 3 yrs ago - I simply cope better and am more used to the symptoms. Although I presently still live with my parents due to this, I still push myself and do more than perhaps some would with the symptoms - but life has to go on even if its not like how you would like it to be sometimes.

Oh the brain fog is bothering me a lot too esp with working in a job I have to do a lot of thinking/multi-tasking! Being in an area I know noone also is hard as making friends/meeting new people I find a lot harder than I used to due to the fog. Sometimes I wonder cos I am anxious about it (due to dizziness) whether this makes it all worse but I find holding convos with new people tough sometimes. With my mates am fine but its def down to the fog and I think also my reduced confidence that has occurred as a result of the "head monster".

On a cheerier note(!) the symptoms have gone to baseline again and I have worked full time this week in an occupation that is not dizziness-friendly! I am doing my new VRT religiously also. And praying! Am feeling better mentally as a result of the better symptoms...

But in a nutshell, things plod on. As always, the special people in my life, this board and the vestibular work I do on the sidelines (and the contact I have with fellow sufferers) keeps me sane.

We can but keep the faith, hey?

Huge hugs to you and thanks for your thoughts - mean a lot.

CL xx :)

Hey there--

Yup, Ive had this 24/7 for 7 years--hasnt let up at all. Im glad to hear that you are working full time and doing well. I work full time as well, I have no idea how I do it at all. Feeling drunk all the time is not exactly fun. I did VRT for a good while, but I didnt see any positive effects from it at all. I keep pretty active in general--my doc told me normal day activity is good VRT too. Seven years.....no improvement.....Im really thinking its something other than my ears......who knows :( Feeling kind of down today.

Hope you continue to see improvement!!!!!

Hi schao

My specialist told me daily activities werent enough for me to compensate hence VRT. Sorry you have seen no improvement. What about drug therapy - there are a number they can try...

I am just doing full time for few weeks...not ready for it long term yet.

Keep in touch xxxx
