Simple (Short Question) Version
Can someone who has had HSV1 for years, and has been getting little things like olscars for years, still have that whole big infection/outbreak deal, or is this something that only happens to some people when the virus first takes effect?

what i mean by "that whole big infection/outbreak deal" : gums become red and swollen, tongue develops a white coating, fever, muscle aches, eating difficulties, a generally ill feeling, irritability, and swollen neck glands.

Detailed Version
i have had herpes type 1 for as long as i can rmeber, and ive never gotten a cold sore on my lips, or a sore anywhere outside of my body at all.

i generally getolscars on teh inside of my cheek, or behind my lips, and very rarley on my gums or tounge, i get olscars very easilly, and i have a very weak immune system so they last for abouta month and have gotten as big as over 1cm. i also get tonsilitus often, less often as i get older.

My tounge tarted to look purpleish-whiteish-greenish, i assumed it was just becuase i drink so many greyish purpleish smoothies and ignored it.. but its been this way for over a month, befor i mnotice dteh colour i felt a sort of numbing feeling in teh back of my throat, this happened after i vomited (was likley cuased by period-related naesia and low blood sugar) so i assumed i just burned the back of my tounge with stoamch acid or something..

i now have what health-relted webpages keep reffering to as a "strawberry tounge" a white coating on the backof my tounge, and brightred behind that. i also have i large white blotch on of my tonsils, i can feel the blotch. mt tonsils areinflamed, and my throats burns.

ive felt pretty awful for a month, maybe 2, now: neasia, trouble sleeping, trouble eating, light fever, headaches, sore throat, runny/stuff nose, and terrable periods.

i read that this can be cuased by herpes 1 but it didnt say how long it would last, it also implied that its likley to happen in children when they are first infected, which isnt my case. it also said it cuases white laces all over the mouth, but i only have the coated tounge and a white place on my tonsil. i had one olscar behind my lip and one on my gum sense i started feeling bad, and both acted like normal olscars for me.

i cant see my doctur untill monday at 12 or 3 (if he even works monday) but my grandmas best friend knows my medical history, is a docter, and is going to take a look today, in a few hours,

if you know anything about this sort of thing, id really appriciate help~

When I got my initial primary genital herpes outbreak, I also got other very weird symptoms, including a burning tonge, difficulty swallowing, my tonge felt enlarged and swallowing was difficult, I had red dots all over my tonge and was very worried I also contracted herpes of the mouth. BUT....it was actually food/drug allergies I had! I had something called Oral Thrush. You can read about it by doing a search on line.

I suspect that you have food allergies and all your symptoms point towards it. You may wish to look up symptoms of food allergies and I think you will find your answers. Actually, what was happening to me was I was allergic to some of the '' naturopatic remedies'' I was trying to treat my herpes.

Good luck and definately investigate food allergies, including reading up on yeast and a symptom called Thrush. I think you have Thrush in the mouth. It can easliy be treated.

thanks,

but i definitly dont have thrush, my symptoms are too different; i was on a website about it which was where i found out that herpes of the mouth can give you these symptoms, actually.. i have had mouth-herpes for forever, and i read that getting sick / periods can cause herpes to relapse(?) and i was sick, during my peirod, right befor my symptoms showed

so i think my best guess would be herpes as the cause, but i dont i like that answer.. if its becuase of my herpes there snothing i can do but wait for it to pass

According to the Herpes Manual written by Terri Warren, the canker sores in the mouth are NOT herpes! Some people get cankers from citrus or when they have a fever. I too assumed that ulcers inside my mouth must be herpes but they are not! This new thing that you are having may be your first OB of herpes in your life or it may not be anything to do with herpes. But your sores you've been getting in your mouth your whole life aren't herpes.

Whit blotches, inflammed tonsils, sore throats, diary products ( smoothies ) white bread...all invoke thrush and you could have had thrush all your life, even babies get it in their mouth. It is worth reading about. Canker sores are not herpes, but to put your mind at ease, the best bet is go to the doc and have it checked...I have a good feeling that you dont have herpes. Take care and all the best.

i have a white coated tounge, not a blotchy one, but i do have a white blotch on one of my toncils, i looked it up before and it didnt match my symptoms, but ill take another look, im seeing my docter tomorow

according to all of my health teachers, my parents, and many health-related websites, mouth olscars are cuased by herpes type 1, which is communicable by kissing or eating after someone who has it, and about 95% of the worlds population has it, type 2 is gental herpes.. are you sure thats wrong? i have a bad memory, but im pretty sure my docter told me i had it when i was younger

Though I have had occasional outbreaks of the Herpes 1 Virus on my lips and around my mouth since I was 9, I would disagree about the cause of the ulcers in your mouth.

For as long as I can remember, I have had ulcers in my mouth, usually on the inside cheeks, behind the lip, and occasionally on the tounge. I'd estimate, that until 2 years ago, I had an ulcer in my mouth for at least 50% of my life. They were so pervasive - that I just accepted it and learned to live with it. But I have now gotten rid of them, and am down to just 1 or 2 a year.

It turns out that an ingrediant in common toothpaste brands, called sodium lauryl sulfate, is extremely irritating to a percentage of toothpaste users. This is a common chemical that is also found in many shampoo and body gel products. It causes ulcers, period.

When I read about this, I went to the natural food store and decided to give Welleda toothpaste a chance. There was no Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in it, and like a miracle, I stopped getting new ulcers. For a while, it was very hard to find natural toothpaste with flouride, as there seems to be some bias against flouride in the natural-foods community. However, as soon as JASON products began making a toothpaste last year without SLS but with Flouride, I immediately tried it, and the flouride doesn't cause a problem. Even better, the JASON line of toothpastes taste amazing - much better than drugstore brands.

Though you may have a different problem entirely - give this a shot, all it costs is $5.00 for some toothpaste, and give it at least 20 days, to see if you stop developing ulcers. It won't make the existing ones go away that much faster, but if I'm right, you'll get a lot less new ones.

i dont use most toothpastes, i use one directed by my docter that specifically eases the pain of my olscars, stops them from growing so big if i use it often enough, and even gets rid of them faster, so its definitly not my toothpaste.

i -love- my toothpaste, it honestly works better than oragel or kank-a for pain relief, and it doenst sting or numb you like they do. whenever it starts to hurt i go brush the teeth around it, and i feel fien for hours

every tiem i get so much as a tiny cut anywhere in my mouth it turns into an olscar, that doesnt sound normal to me, honestly, they also stay for a month, and get rediculously large.. my docter told me they were cuased by a virus, i distincly rember that, i just cant remember if he said "herpes" or not

thank you for the advice anyway
