Hi,

I'm a 20 year old college girl who gets chronic headaches. I have absolutely no idea what is causing them, as they change from time to time, go away for a little bit, come back full force...

Anyways, the current headaches are on the sides of my head (above ears) and literally underneath my eyebrows. I know we have sinuses above the eyebrows, but directly underneath them, where the bone is (???) Usually there is some aching around my eyes as well, a general soreness when I press.

I don't know what these headaches can be classified as -- they are rarely on one side or accompanied by nausea, so I've ruled out migraines. Tension headaches? Well, I never get the back of the head/neck soreness and also get them even when I'm not tense. Sinus? It doesn't seem that I have a seirous sinus problem -- I do have occasional congestions, esp. in the morning, but nothing severe.

I have tried many many many medications, ranging from anti-histamines to anti-depressants. I've tried giving up all medications...I've tried acupuncture, chiropractic care, dietary changes (although only to a certain degree...)

Please, ANY advice is appreciated. Also, I can answer any other questions from anyone who might be willing to help. I'm desperate...

If you haven't already, you need to see a Neurologist who specializes in headaches/migraines. They are usually found at Headache Clinics. Since you are a college student, check the yellow pages for one in your area, ask around and/or if there is a University Hospital in your area contact them & ask for recommendations from their Neurology Dept.

BTW, you do not have to have nausea to have migraines. I only suffer from nausea when I have a migraine *attack*. Other than that, I am nausea free.

In the meantime, you may want to check out what is triggering your headaches and/or migraines. Sometimes weather can cause migraines.
Do a forum search for headache triggers or migraine triggers.

You should also try to keep a headache/migraine diary. Do a forum search on how to keep one. You can print it out.

However, first you really need to determine if you are suffering from headaches and/or migraines as they are 2 different medical conditions.

Good luck

Also are you on any prescription medication? Birth control canc ause severe headaches. And a lot of other medications can cause headaches. How are your eating habits? Do you eat a lot of junk food? Do you drink caffeine or consume a lot of sugar? Sugar and caffeine can be major triggers of headaches. Do you get enough sleep? Drink enough water? There are lots of other things that can cause headaches but those seem to be the most common. Talk to your doctor and see what you two can figure out. Good luck!
