I'm 29 and became ill in Dec. 2003 with autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto's) but wasn't diagnosed for a year and a half. Before that time I had carried 4 babies to term, had one preemie and 2 miscarriages. Since then I have not been able to carry a baby and have had 5 miscarriages (two were second trimester losses...both boys).
I have had bleeding/spotting throughout most or all of my cycle since November 2004 (after my third miscarriage). My cycles were mostly regular but I didn't ovulate three times last year and had a cyst rupture on my rt ovary each time.
I went on BC for the month of December because I had been bleeding constantly since my miscarriage in August (I hemorrhaged twice). It was effective and I felt really well on it...better than I have in a long time (my dr feels I may have low estrogen but hasn't tested my levels).
I started my period the day after stopping the BC. The period was normal but three weeks later I'm still spotting/cramping and haven't ovulated...the spotting is increasing though and turning bright red (nothing serious at this point). I'm also having pain on my rt side again (I'm assuming it's another cyst since I haven't ovulated yet).
Is it possible that my ovaries are failing? I don't understand why I'm suddenly unable to carry a baby to term (my thyroid levels are normal according to my endocrinologist). When I did ovulate last year I only had ovulatory pain in my right ovary and all my cysts were in my rt ovary (my corpus luteum was in my rt ovary with my last preg as well...it's the only one I had an u/s for).
I'm not sure why my dr feels it's not necessary to test my hormone levels...I'd push for it but can't afford it at this point anyway.
I want to go back on the BC since I felt so much better and it stopped the bleeding. I have to wait until my pap results are in next week before they'll consider it.
I'm just looking for opinions, info and hearing from anyone who might have had a similar experience.
