I have had this itching around my genital area...nothing in my mouth, not even on my penis...just around it, my inner upper legs and the area between my belly and my penis...it doesn't burn, it only itches. there is redness, but i have looked at some pictures of what it might look like and it is not as intense as some of the photos I've seen. could it just be an allergic reaction???

How long have you had the itching? Did it occur withing 2-21 days after a sexual encounter? Have you changed your body wash soap or laundry soap recently? Does any anit-itch lotion help the itching and redness? It does not seem like herpes, but never say never, so many people have differentiating symptoms of herpes or none at all. How about going to a doc and letting them take a look at it? I think you will find you dont have it, but if you want to put your mind at ease then consider a doctor.

it started a while after my first serious relationship which was also my first sexual encounter, I have had this itching for a few years now, I've just been too embarrased to go to the doctors, I don't have insurance....i've tried some lotion, but it only helps for a bit, but it comes back again, it has slowly been spreading a little, it started out in my inner thies....but i have no traces of redness or itching on my actual equipment.

I am so sorry you dont have insurance. I love the United States but I dont agree with your healthcare system. Do they have STD clinics in the US that are free? The only way you will ever know for sure is to have a medical professional verify it with a test. Until then, you may wish to try some natural solutions to relieve herpes and see it it affects your symptoms. I use peroxide, just the standard drug store kind and it helps a lot! Maybe you could try that to see how your situation reacts until you can get to a doctor. Take care and all the best

Just a guess but a bacterial infection or a yeast infection. Bacterial infections need an antibiotic, and I'm not sure what a man needs to do to treat a yeast infection. It's not impossible that you could be allergic to a soap...try an unscented soap for sensitive skin. Couldn't this be jock itch?

OHCANADA, you are right about the US health care system. For lower income people, there are state clinics that are either free or low in cost but you have to meet the income guidelines. It's a shame that prisoners get healthcare provided while law biding citizens have to go without or go broke to get healthcare...sad sad sad!!!! I have to laugh each time someone runs for president and talks healthcare but when they are elected does nothing but make things worse for us!
