Will someone please remind me that colds make your symptoms go nuts? I was doing really well and got a cold from my son and feel really crappy this week. On top of that, it is my week of the month. My head aches, my throat hurts and to top it off why do I let posts that don't pertain to myself bother me so much? I really can't stand to have this buzzzing in my head/ears for ever. I sat up crying for 2 hours last night and should not have come on the boards when I was already feeling low. I really need to listen to CL's advice about that.
No one has to really reply. I'm just flipping out and need to vent. Hard when no one is around to do that with.
Thanks for listening. - I know if I calm myself down, I'll feel better. You learn that after dealing with this stuff so long. - Gloria

Hi Gloria,
I need to be reminded constantly that when I have a bad day, its just that -- a Bad day and hopefully a good day will be right around the corner... The last 5 days have been really bad for me.... Yesterday being the worst one..... I was really upset for a while...
I am having such terrible fatigue right now -- I cannot stay awake...Actually it is pretty funny how tired I am.... I was reading the boards and as I am reading posts I fall asleep..... Not only am I falling asleep, I am finishing the posts in my head... (My brain is filling in the blanks) as I move to the next post I wake up and say to myself, but I already went through all these.. heheheh :)
Anyway, Colds definately set u back a little... but it should pass soon.

OK, girl,
Here's another reminder from yet another person who knows EXACTLY how discouraging it is to go backward instead of forward: Just remember the progress you've made since being almost incapacitated last December! Oh, it's been slow going, but it's "going!!!!!!!" As Tummy said, it's just an especially bad day today - and there are two valid reasons for the setback! As you've experienced in the past when you've gotten sick, it might be rough for a small while, but in no time you're going to be back up to speed again, feeling much, much better.
I'm cheering you on!!!!

Hi G and everyone else,
Funny so many of us are having a bad time right now, not at my usual place either. Putting it down to winter blues, this time last year I was in a really bad place and it was how I found this board. I guess this is about my one year anniversary on this board! (not exactly a celebratory event, and it suprises me how much I still use this board for help!)
I read a quote last night that inspired me:
"If we can use our problems and illnesses as opportunities to think about how we can change our lives: we have power."
Hope you are feeling better today, don't forget to keep moving.

Hi Gloria,
Hope today is going better for you. Drink LOTS of fluids and try to get some tasty chicken soup down. Any chance you can just veg out for a few days? I haven't had a cold recently and I am really dredding it.
As you know I have a return of my symptoms over the past 10 days but today is a bit better. I just wish I knew if it was the Ativan taper or decomp. Also, here in Florida, we are experiencing pine tree pollen that is on everything. UGH. Pollen in January.....hard to figure. Anyway, please relax and know that in a few days you'll see the light at the end of this horrible tunnel.
Cheers to you....

I get upset and angry when I have a "bad" day. It's a very frustrating situation. This board has been so helpful to me. I didn't know that it was not unusual to have bad days and good days. I thought once you're "cured," you're cured. When I get a setback I get scared that I won't bounce back. Colds most definitely make me dizzy and spacey. I've always managed to bounce back, so I guess this is the nature of the beast.

Hi Gloria,
Sorry to hear you are feeling so lousy after a good week. But YES, colds will definitely send you backwards with this stuff - that's absolutely a given. Been there a few times with it myself and, unfortunately, I have herpes too which creates just as much trouble for me. In fact, my current decomp event may have been partially fuelled by just that.
Hope you feel better soon,
Best...Scott  <- my current state

Gloria:
Very busy work week ahead but just some sdvice. This is perfectly normal.... A cold defintely causes decompensation. Just think how much a cold affects your ears..... Plus your brain which works hard to compensate now has to work very hard to compensate for the cold instead of your condition. This to will pass. you are doing very good lately and dont let a cold get you down....Keep staying positive. Have a party at your house for your husband this weekend for the Steelers.... You said you wanted to ...
On a positive not as you are always looking for positives. I am almost at the 3 month mark of 95% or more with only bried moments like when I am in a mall as by body adjusts. It took me 2 years to get there but I did. It was not easy as everyone knows and heard me on this board. But I did get there. I am the first to admit until I started to feel better it was real hard to be positive. But you will recover.

Hi Howie,
Nice one being able to say you are at 95%. That's a new milestone. I think I may be pulling out of this latest decomp event myself (I hope I don't eat these words). Yesterday, things started looking better - slightly - and this morning feels not too bad either. I'm looking forward to visiting you on the 95% bench!
Later....Scott

Scott:
This is a new milestone and I can defintely deal and appreciate the way I am feeling lately.... I get symptoms on occasion when I am busy at work on the computer 14 hours a day. (Not non stop as I take breaks but on eneough) I feel the chiropractor and working out have helped tremendously. I have lost 23 pounds. I am almost (10 lb's short of my weight before the condition.
You will be back to the 95% soon if not 100%......
You work to hard not to....

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to say thank you for the support an kind words. I'm still batting this cold but have calmed myself down to the point where I am mostly dealing with just cold symptoms now.
The good news is my head hurt really bad for only one day and I felt dizzy for really only one day. My ear still feel pretty full, but the cold seems to be effecting my vestibular symptoms a lot less than in the past year so hopefully that is a good sign. I just hope I can beat this cold a little faster too. I feel really tired today.
Thanks again - Gloria

Hi Subs,
What a great post to hear that. I value your research and input and it gives me lots of hope. Thanks for putting a smile on my face; they've been very few and far inbetween over the past year.
