gen surgeon proposing bowel resection (history of stageO &pre-c polyps) i am on Baclofen (spasticity meds) for several years related to symptoms connected to myelopathy (cervical region)similar to MS symptoms.
baclofen can not be stopped suddenly- seizures etc may result.

i am told that for a resection, i would be in hosp for about a week and that the first couple of days no food or drink- only IV fluids.

Baclofen can NOT be administered by IV.

so what happens in the hosp to people who have other conditions requiring maintainance meds.

also concerned with safety/healing as even with baclofen i have spastic movements (involuntary) being in one position too long aggravates the condition.

your comments are appreciated.

prayers to all here..

That is a great question for your surgeon. You may want to consult with a colorectal specialist if possible. I was NPO after my surgery for a LONG time, but was able to take a sip of water to swallow a pill now and again. Also, I found that often there were other drugs out there that could be give through the IV that had the same effect.

Good luck to you...
