Is there anyone who can help me, for nearly 2 years now i've had an uncomfortable feeling in my neck and in my armpits, as if they're swollen but various specialists have told me they're not, the feeling becomes more intense as the day progresses, also if i drink alcohol or am tired it seems more bothersome, i also get frequent headaches and muscle aches. I am particularly concerned about hiv, i performed oral sex on a sex worker 3 and a half years ago, which i deeply regret( very drunk! ) i have had 6 negative hiv tests, the first being 15 months after the possible exposure,so i am aware i am well outside the window period, i am just finding the test results hard to believe as my symptoms seem to tally with symptoms associated with hiv. Is it possible these tests aren't picking the antibodies up, did i leave it too long to be tested(15 months) or is there anyone out there who can identify with my symptoms and had a clear diagnosis for them. Anybodys help and advice would be greatly appreciated.Pedro

You had six HIV tests in fifteen months! And, you somehow think, becuase you performed oral sex on a sex worker you deserve this diagnosis, don't you? Six negative tests in fifteen months is an conclusive as you can get unless there are other risky encounters you haven't mentioned. chris

You could not get more negative if you tried mate. For your non risk encounter six tests was over the top. Yes I said non risk (here we go...)
This might help you feel better though, your describing how I have been feeling for months and months. Doctors dont know what it is and my glands did swell, Trust me, you are HIV negative, regardless of height and weight (point of that?)

it is a very low risk situation you described, if you want a story of symptoms, try mine, hotflashes, a few night sweats, little red spots on my skin, stomach problems, chills, cold sweats, tiredness, sore throat, muscle spasms, a few rashes, itches, headaches, and a cough that lasted a month, several negative tests later even outside the window period and all those symptoms I described are gone, save the hotflashes but i only get those in uncomfortable social situations(social anxiety). So in conclusion you can have every symptom and not be infected, and I thought for sure I was a goner

thanks for your replies, but to feel like i have for nearly 2 years, i don't know how much more i can take, i just feel terrible all the time, i've also gained 3 stone in weight!! To add to my fears of hiv, since my possible exposure i've started dating a girl we've been together 2 and a half years, now she is having unusual problems, menstrual problems, weight gain, tiredness, mouth ulcers. Am i adding 2 and 2 here or what????????? This whole thing is driving me crazy, i just want my life back to normal.

Please, it appears that much what you are experiencing has very little to do with HIV and a great deal to do with your emotional state - which does not appear to be very healthy right now...Can you get some help? chris
