Hi,
I am wondering if I might possibly have an adrenal, hormonal fatigue problem (or if my fatigue is just due to prescription meds). I have had some blood tests in the past, but not sure if they assess this possibility. what are the standard diagnostic procedures and/or blood tests that reveal problems like high cortisol or adrenal fatigue? My main symptoms that I think could be a symptom of an underlying problem or could just be side effects include: fatigue, anxiety, skin irritation and outbreaks, irregular periods and cramps, weight loss. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have those symptoms except for the skin irritation. Look into Addison's Disease (Weight loss) or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (weight gain). You also wouldn't be having unusual hair growth?
They may test your
Renin
Potassium
Cortisol
CO2
Aldosterone
ACTH
It may be anything though. I'm battling both Addison's and PCOS myself. Good luck to you.

Hi Lilac! I was reading your post and you mentioned that you have PCOS. I had polycystic ovary syndrome and ended up having a total hysterectomy at age 40 in 1997. Seeing as you are also a veteran of this, what happens after the hysterectomy? Do you still hormonally have the same syndrome or do they call it something different? I took various HRT preparations and the side effects were horrendous! I only had hot flashes for about 4 months and then I stopped so I felt I didn't need the hormones. They have never returned, but I was wondering if you could tell me what your symptoms were that led to the diagnosis of Addison's. Thanks so much! :)
