I just found out that the technical term for my bunion surgery is:
Reverdin-Laud-Green Ostectmy
My doc explained that it is similar to the Chevron except that it cuts the bone in a 3D plane instead of 2D. It is more precise cut. It also corrects the direction of the cartilidge at the ball of the foot wheras the Chevron does not.
Has anybody else had this procedure?

Hello! I've not had the one you're having, but did have chevron osteotomies/bunionectomies when I was 19 and 20 (both feet - one year apart). If the procedure is similar, I would *think* the recovery might be similar.
Back then (1981-2), this was done as in-patient procedure, and I was in hospital for 3 days each time. I was non-weight-bearing for about a week, then was allowed to step on foot, in walking-cast. The pain was bad for about the first 3 days or so, then after that it started feeling better pretty quickly (if I remember right!) I was given Tylenol #3s that I probably used for maybe the first week or so. I was in the cast for 6 weeks (I think?). I do remember having more pain again after the cast came off, but that decreased fairly quickly - within a couple weeks, I think, it felt pretty normal.
Of course, NOW, they probably do this as an out-patient procedure, as my recent foot surgery was much more involved than this one, and IT was done out-patient (I was really surprised!).
Hopefully someone else will come along that had the exact same procedure as you will. When is your surgery?
I hope you get great results!

I should correct myself... it is actually spelled: Reverdin-Laird-Green Osteotomy
(couldn't read the doc's handwriting!)
Well, I just had the right foot done in mid December so I am about 5 weeks post-op. I was non-weight bearing the first 2 weeks but then walking in a boot these last 3 weeks. I am starting to squeeze into sneakers now. I didn't have a cast and the process was done out-patient.
I was just curious since it seems that the majority of bunion surgeries are chevrons.
