Maybe someone can answer my question.
MY 18 year old son has had a neck lump for the past 5 months. He went to the dr. on the 16th and she sent him for an ultrasound. She said that if it's a cyst ( which is what she suspects it is), then she'll remove it, if it's a lymph node, she will biopsy it.
Her actual description of this lump was/is "superficial , well circumscribed neck lesion".
Anyway, he has his next appt. on the 23rd to discuss the results of the Ultrasound.
What I wonder is, why to an ultrasound at all ? Why not just remove it, send it to pathology and be done with it ?
They're going to probably be doing that anyway ???
SO why the extra step, which is IMO a waste of time.
Thanks for your replies.
