First of all i would like to say hello to all members of health boards,i recently posted a mail but only Mr jon briefly reply me,appreciate that, but i did not get answer of all my questions.
My name is Mana, 24 year from london.I gave blowjob on(16-Aug-05)to a girl without condom as i belive she is prosititue(may be hiv+).
i had hiv test on(24-Dec-05) after 131 days. The test done through rapid hiv test method and they took my blood from arm and gave me results in fifteen minutes time, results were negative.
Again i tested (03-jan-06) negative on 141 days. Both times they gave me results in 15 minutes time.
I went to VICTORIA MEDI CENTRE in london for hiv test both times.
Dear members my questions are?
1. rapid hiv test(15 min) is accurate as other type of tests are? Do i need to get an other type of hiv test again for confirmation? And my tests are conclusive and definite?
2. After three month in(Nov-05) of blowjob i developed sore throat and two swollen lympth node on right side of throat near under to tonsils place, and one left side. All small size, not visable on skin, not hurt but i can feel if i touch them.My sore throat some times recover and some time not. but lympth nodes still exist.
Can you explain why are these and are they related to hiv?
and when usually they will go away?
3- I know a person infected(hiv) through unprotected sex takes three months to produce antibodies.Does a person infected with unprotected oral sex take same time(three month) to antibodies?
I thing oral sex might take more time to produce antibodies as compare to proper intercourse sex, because oral sex carries low risk of hiv.IS THAT TRUE?
I am very worried about myself please answer me.
I will be waiting your answer.
Your sincerely
MANA
Sorry for poor english

Actually wether or not you have unprotected oral versus unprotected vaginal or anal sex makes a big difference in terms of risk, because unprotected oral is considered very low risk. It doesnt make a difference in seroconversion(developing antibodys). The average time to devlop antibodies is about 4 weeks(28 days or so), mostly 96% or so will seroconvert at about 3 months, with the remaining 4% after 6 months(people that take 6 months usually have a compromised immune system already). How ever your situation carries very low risk, and your test is negative at 4 months so you can pretty much put it behind you. Swollen lymph nodes can come up at any time, it is the body fighting off infection, sore throat could be the product of a cold and the body is fighting that cold. You have nothing to worry about

Thanks for your very kind words,You angel for me,now i am feeling relax.
You mention about COMPROMISED IMMUNE SYSTEM (people that take 6 months usually have a compromised immune system already).
Does it mean weak immune system?
I suffered T.B two and half years ago,but it was completly recovered in six months time. Can i say that T.B has compromised immune system two and half years ago? Is my immune system still compromising?Am i right?
Secondly you did not mention about the accuracy of rapid hiv test...
I will be very greatful to your kindly reply.

a 4 month test is conclusive in 96% of all cases, the accuracy of the test you mentioned is the same as most other tests if done when the window period has past 3 months. I dont think your T.B would do anything to put pressure on your immune system right now since it was 2 years ago. I know that the anxiety is really putting you down right now, you might feel great one minute and completely miserable the next. Even with the 4 month test you probably still have many doubts, your situation is a very low risk situation. I suggest you relax, realise you have nothing to be afraid of, but if you continue to have doubts test at the 6 month mark, it will put your mind at ease

You are negative. A negative ELISA test at three months is conclusive unless you fall into a transplant or chemoe category and you would know if you fell into that. Like I have said several times, you are negative mana. Celebrate this and protext it.

No more questions and what ifs.

Sorry to disturbing you again.
Hi JON and DAZ.In your 7th post you described that( A negative ELISA test at three months is conclusive unless you fall into a transplant or chemoe category).
I am bit confused here i had rapid hiv test(result in 15 minutes).
Is RAPID HIV test a ELISA test?
If RAPID HIV test is not a ELISA test, then is that test accurate as ELISA test if performed after window period(three months)?
please reply me,your reply makes my anxiety down.
Your sincerely MANA.

Reports indicate that the rapid HIV test is as good as, or better than the standard Elisa test.
